Silver Fox
Hello, my name is Silver Fox. My animal id is #262032. I am a female gray cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 2 years 1 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 8/9/2026.
Silver fox needs at risk placement for medical reasons. She is a sweet young cat and is not eating due to a severe upper respiratory tract infection. She needs supportive care in a veterinary clinic to recover.

What my friends at ACC say about me: I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace. Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy!

Details on my behavior are...
Behavior Condition: 2. Blue
KNOWN HISTORY:: Silver Fox was brought in as a stray, there is no known information on her behavior history in a home environment.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Mellow
VOCAL:: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: : Sweet,Curious,Skittish
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:: New home adjustment period
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Level 2
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Silver Fox was at the front of the enclosure scanning the room and appeared alert with neutral eyes. She head bunted the hand and leaned into contact, indicating she was receptive to interaction. Her tail remained tucked and flicked throughout the assessment, suggesting some uncertainty or mild stress. She was neutral and tolerant during pickup and accepted increased attention after settling back down. Overall, Silver Fox was social and tolerant but somewhat cautious during the interaction. Silver Fox tolerates attention and petting but appears to be mildly fearful or stressed in the shelter. She will likely need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred or at least be well counseled in fearful cat behavior.
