Summary (7):: 04/08/26: Mylo is at the front of his kennel as handler approaches, he is loose bodied and jumps up on the kennel door excitedly. He allows leashing without issue on a pre-clipped leash and exits kennel following handler out to the street for his walk. Once outside Mylo begins pulling forward and spinning on leash, Mylo is frantic and jumps up on leash while outside. He does not accept treats and is hypervigilant throughout the interaction. Mylo passes people on the street without issue and stops to relieve himself. He begins pulling hard back toward the care centers and is unable to be redirected so handler begins bringing him back. Mylo is returned to kennel without further issue and interaction is ended. 3/30/26: Mylo is at the front of the kennel when the handler approaches. He is easily leashed and taken to the street. He does not react to any people. Mylo will snap at the leash and then jump up on the handler's leg. When returning to kennel Mylo allows the handler to pick him up; however, he begins thrashing as the handler begins walking to the kennel. The handler is able to place him into kennel. 3/18/26: It is reported that Milo was trembling at the back of kennel, and did not want any treats offered.

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: New Hope Only
Recommendations:: No children (under 13),Place with a New Hope partner
Recommendations comments:: No children (under 13): Due to resource guarding and fearful behavior we recommend an adult only home. We recommend placement with a New Hope rescue partner who is able to provide an experienced, adult-only foster home. Force-free, reward based training and/or consultation with a professional trainer/behaviorist is highly recommended.
Potential challenges: : Resource guarding,Fearful/potential for defensive aggression,Leash-biting
Potential challenges comments:: Resource Guarding: Mylo has been observed to snap at handlers repeatedly when they approach while he is in possession of a toy. Nothing should ever be taken directly out of Mylo's mouth, and any time something is removed they should be rewarded with a high value treat or toy. Please see handout on Resource Guarding. Fearful Defensive: During intake Mylo was observed to be fearful, growl, and hide from handlers. While on a leash, he begins thrashing. During his assessment Mylo nipped at handler's hands. It is important to move slowly with Mylo, to build positive associations (treats/toys/praise), and to allow them to initiate interactions with new people. They should never be forced to greet or to interact if they are not comfortable and soliciting attention. Please see handout on Fearful and Defensive Aggression. Leash Biting: While in leash Mylo has been observed to snap at the leash. We recommend walking them with a toy to dissuade them from grabbing the leash. Positive reinforcement, force-free training is advised to teach them to focus on you rather than grabbing the leash. Please see handout on Leash Manners.
