Someone has already placed a deposit on me. I'm no longer available.

Timmy is on the at-risk list due to behavior concerns. Timmy in the care center has not been acclimating well despite best efforts to keep him comfortable. Timmy in care has been generally uncomfortable and fearful, shying away from staff when approached, reluctant to be leashed or come forward and is now not wanting to leave the building for his daily walks. Timmy is social with familiar staff in the care center, but is struggling to acclimate. Medically, Timmy is apparently healthy.

Summary:: Due to Timmy entering the facility as a stray, there is no prior dog-to-dog history recorded. 08/09/25: Timmy is introduced to a greeter male. Both dogs approach the gate with excited body language. The greeter offers play bows, while Timmy responds with prey bows and visible hackles. He runs along the gate line with a high, curved tail. As arousal increases, Timmy escalates from demand barking to alert barking, continuing to pace along the gate line. Both dogs are separated, the interaction is concluded. 07/03/25: While off leash at the Care Center, Timmy is introduced to a female greeter dog. At the gate, Timmy is initially reluctant to approach, standing at a distance while the greeter remains present with a loose posture. With some gentle coaxing, Timmy cautiously approaches the gate, and the two dogs engage in mutual scenting. Timmy marks at the gate while displaying a high, curved tail and ears pinned back. When the greeter gives a low demanding bark, Timmy retreats, displaying paw raises. From that point forward, he practices full avoidance, looking away and showing no further interest in the greeter. Timmy is then guided away from the gate and returned to his kennel, concluding the interaction.

Summary (4):: 08/19/25 Timmy is at the front of his kennel with a relaxed, neutral body. The handler will clip his collar and take him for a walk. On the walk, Timmy will pull intensely displaying a low tail. He will stop periodically to mark in different areas such as traffic signs, dirt plots and different parts of the sidewalk. Timmy displays a muscular frame as he continues to pull on leash. Timmy is returned to the facility where he will enter the building as well as his kennel with no issue. 8/16/25: Timmy is at the back of his kennel laying down when approached, and when the handler walks up to his kennel he begins to get off his bed and slowly come forward. Timmy is clipped to his collar and begins to pull hard towards the behavior office. Timmy in the officer is highly social with all staff, running around the room, leaning into contact and pawing at the freezer for enrichment he's received in the past. Timmy is given a rawhide, and begins to chew on that for a bit. Timmy will willingly step away from chewing to approach new staff that enter with a loose body and lean int contact. Timmy after a bit is taken back to kennel with no issue, and tolerates being unclipped. 8/14/25 (PM): Timmy was lying on his side on kuranda bed as handler approached. Handler crouched in doorway and tossed treats on floor. Timmy did not immediately get up and was disinterested in freeze-dried liver treats, but when handler tossed beef jerky treats within reach he stood up and approached without hesitation. Handler spoke to him in a soft voice as they clipped leash to collar and walked him on a quiet route (via medical hallway and elevator) to the yard. Timmy's kennel was clean and he relieved himself immediately upon exiting the building. Timmy walked around the yard and scented. He approached handler when they crouched down and tossed a trail of treats. Upon exiting the yard, Timmy pulled hard on leash (in the direction of the other pens/ramp.) Handler paused and led him through the gate instead, as it was quieter option. Timmy slowed his pace and re-entered the building. Upon exiting the elevator, Timmy saw a group of familiar handlers in the hall and approached then with a loose body and wagging tail. He continued to wag his tail as they greeted him by name. Timmy walked back to kennel via SDA and Main A. Once in kennel, handler placed a piece of beef jerky at front of kennel so Timmy would approach to have his leash unclipped.

Summary (5):: (AM): Timmy is siting on his bed at the back of his kennel as handler approaches. He comes forward to the front with ease as the handler unlocks the door. He is comfortable taking treats and allows the handler to clip their lead to his collar with no issues. He then pulls hard on the way to the live room. In the room, he was comfortable approaching the handler for treats and engaged in licking cheese off the cabinet door. After he relieves himself, he begins to stand at the door and seek exit. He pulls hard on the way back to his kennel and is able to enter with no issues. 8/13/25: ACS report Timmy does not want to leave kennel, shying away of the leash and is reluctant to walk out of the care center for his walks. 08/09/25: Timmy is lying down in his kennel upon handler’s arrival and allows the handler to clip his collar with ease. He is then brought to the play yard to meet a playmate. Once inside, a drag leash is placed on him and he is set free to roam. When his playmate arrives, Timmy runs to the gate, moving along the baseline of the fence as he engages in nose-to-nose greetings. He then begins hard barking and exhibiting prey-pronouncing behavior. For more information, see dog-to-dog note. Timmy is brought back to his kennel safely without any issues.

Summary (6):: 07/29/25: Timmy greets the handler jumping on to his kennel door. Timmy is easily leashed and escorted to the play yards. When on leash Timmy will mildly pull a head of the handler panting. When in the yard, Timmy will spend his time scenting the yard. After marking and spreading his scent, the handler will toss treats for Timmy to find and consume. Timmy is escorted back to his kennel where he is unleashed and safely secured. 07/22/25 Timmy is lying down as the handler approaches, rising as the handler unlocks the kennel door. Timmy is leashed with ease and they proceed outside for a walk. Timmy maintains a neutral frame as he trots moderately beside the handler as the handler uses little to no leash pressure. Upon arriving outside, Timmy will explore a scent on the sidewalk, chattering in the process. They commence their walk and Timmy maintains his pace, relieving him self as they approach a side block. Timmy will spread his scent after defecating, marking various places along the walk back to the facility. Timmy will enter the facility as well as his kennel with no issue, entering his kennel willingly when approaching. 7/21/25: Timmy is laying down on his bed at the back of his kennel as handler approaches. He is able to come forward as the handler tosses in treats and is able to be slowly leashed. He is then taken to the behavior room. In the room, he had a tense body and would slowly approach the handlers to receive treats. He would slowly approach other handlers that would come in the room, and would disengage by exploring around for treats. He is then taken back to his kennel with no issues. 07/17/25: Timmy is lying down in his kennel and remains in place as the handler places the lead over his head. He continues to sit for a short period before slowly rising and walking out of the kennel. He is then escorted to the play yard, where a drag leash is placed on him and he is given freedom to roam. Once inside the yard, Timmy immediately relieves himself for an extended period. Afterward, he slowly walks around the yard, exploring briefly before standing still and gazing through the gate. Timmy shows no interest in the pool or the treats presented by the handler. He maintains a neutral frame throughout, calmly walking the perimeter without engaging in any activity. When the session is complete, Timmy is brought back to his kennel safely without any issues.

Summary (7):: 07/09/25 Timmy is lying down in his karanda bed, side-eying the handler as the unlock his kennel door. Timmy will slowly come forward but grows weary when seeing the handler's leash. Timmy will pause and wait for the handler to move, ducking their lead. Timmy will continue to dodge the lead until the handler coaxes him over to clip his collar. When the handler slowly reaches in for Timmy's collar, he will slowly pancake, remaining still and allowing the handler to do so. Timmy is taken for a walk. As they exit the building, Timmy is hyper-vigilant, scanning his surroundings as he walks in a "skittish" like manner. Timmy will see a familiar staff member while on his walk and loosen up. He will approach them, leaning in for pets, collecting them from the staff member. The handler will apply directional leash pressure to commence the walk as Timmy will stop to look back at the familiar staff member. Upon returning to the facility, Timmy pulls intensely, so a make shift harness is applied. Timmy pants heavily with wide-dilated eyes as they return to the facility. Timmy will enter the building as well as his kennel with no issue. 07/05/25: (Assessment) As the handler approaches, Timmy is lying on his cot at the back of the kennel. The handler is able to lasso him with ease. Despite gentle coaxing, Timmy remains in place until light leash pressure is applied, at which point he slowly approaches. Once moving, he follows the handler out of the kennel and to the Behavior Assessment (BA) room. Timmy completes his assessment—please refer to the Behavior Assessment for additional details. During the interaction, he displays mild whale eye and stress yawns when touched. Afterward, Timmy is escorted back to his kennel, where he is safely unleashed and secured. 07/02/25 Timmy is in his karanda bed lying down with his back turned towards the handler. The handler will unlock the kennel door and slowly guided a big loop onto Timmy. Timmy attempts to move away from the lead

Potential challenges comments:: Fearful/Anxiety: In the care center, Timmy shows signs of anxiety and fearfulness, including whale eyes, lip licking, avoidance of handler, and backing away from unfamiliar people. A slow, gentle approach paired with positive reinforcement can help him build confidence. Creating a predictable routine and offering calming enrichment activities will also support his emotional well-being. Please see the handout on depression period and generalized anxiety.
