Blueberry
Hello, my name is Blueberry. My animal id is #240902. I am a male gray cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 2 years old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 11/4/2025.
Blueberry is on the at-risk list due to medical concerns. Blueberry is a sweet boy who was brought in as stray with a urinary obstruction that was difficult to unblock. He had a urinary catheter in place for 3 days and has been able to pass urine since the catheter was removed, but has continued to be uncomfortable when passing urine despite pain management. Blueberry may have had some kidney damage from his obstruction, but so far that has been managed with subcutaneous fluids. Blueberry needs a stress free environment with more care than we are able to provide in shelter.
Let's get to know each other a bit more...

What my friends at ACC say about me: My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! It is unknown if I have ever lived with other animals or children. I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me. Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy! Need some biscuits for your breakfast? I'm an expert kneader! I am a cat that is in need of a lap! I can't wait to be your new lap cat.
My medical notes are...

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Level 1
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Blueberry was at the front of the kennel sitting up with his head and ears forward, focused on the assessor with a soft body and eyes. He sniffs treats offered by hand and hops on his hind legs to head bunt for petting. He leans in hard for cheek rubs and raises his hips and tail in the air when stroking his body. During pick up, he tenses up a little bit but remains calm when lifted a few inches from the floor. After placing him back down, he continues to appreciate more petting and cheek rubs. Blueberry interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is suitable for any level of adopter experience who demonstrate a basic understanding of typical cat behavior and can accommodate his medical needs.
