Summary (7):: 9/17/24: Bread Stick was lying down in her kennel. Handler unlocks the kennel and she jumps up with a soft body and slow wagging tail. She is easily leashed and taken out of the kennel room and to the street. She walks by the handler's side and pulls mildly. She does not relieve herself. She is then brought to the backyard where she sniffs around and handler interacts with her. She takes treats gently and her body remains loose. She is then returned to her kennel without issue. 09/13/2024: Bread Stick is standing at the front of kennel with a neutral body, tail wagging, and barking as handler approaches. She is easily leashed and brought out to the play pens. She paces around the yard and sniffs the perimeter. She is no longer eating the treats she accepted when in kennel, no treats, but did accept pets. When petted she would lean into handler, begin panting, and had a loose body with a relaxed tail wag. She would only solicit briefly and then walk away to continue sniffing. She continued looking for an exit and whined, handler took her out to street where he maintained a loose body with a trot. She also continued panting and would zig-zag in front of handler. She did not react to stimuli, people or dogs passing by, would orient herself in their direction but continue moving forward. Bread Stick was easily returned to kennel. 9/12/24(Second Walk): Bread Stick is standing in the front of her kennel as handler approaches. She is leashed with the help of a treat and brought outside to the street for her walk. While outside she is hyper vigilant, scanning around and flinching slightly whenever she hears loud noises. She walks close to handler, occasionally pulling forward to investigate a smell she's interested in. She walks past people on the street without issue and after a it is brought into the office for an assessment. Once inside she briefly sniffs around before handlers offer her treats. She is receptive to them and tolerates pets around her body, she also allows handlers to place a collar on her without issue. When approaching a handler, her ears lower slightly and she approaches with a wagging tail. After a bit she is leashed and returned to kennel, she is slightly hesitant returning when the other dogs begin barking at her but she returns without issue. 9/12/24: Bread Stick is observed leaning against the front of the kennel with a loose, body and wagging tail. Handler stops in front of the kennel, shows a treat and Bread Stick sits when told to sit. Bread Stick takes the treat that is offered, gently. He proceeds to sit again for a treat. Bread Stick remains sitting quietly as handler stands there talking to them in a soft tone.

ENERGY LEVEL:: We have no history on Breadstick so we cannot be certain of their behavior in a home environment. However, they will need daily mental and physical activity to stay engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct their energy and enthusiasm.

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: New Hope Only

Recommendations:: No children (under 13),Recommend no dog parks,Place with a New Hope partner

Recommendations comments:: No children (under 13): Due to the potential for redirection we recommend an adult only home.
