Ranch Dressin has not acclimated well to the kennel environment and has allowed only minimal handling since intake. He will take treats offered to him but will quickly become timid and avoidant if attempts are made at handling. We recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.

He is able to return back to his kennel with no issues.

Potential challenges: : Fearful
Potential challenges comments:: Fearful:Ranch Dressin exhibits signs of stress including heavy panting, pacing, and avoidance of handling. Training should prioritize creating positive associations with routine interactions, using slow introduction to touch, and incorporating confidence-building exercises. A calm, predictable environment paired with reward-based handling will help reduce his anxiety and increase his comfort around people and new experiences. Please see the handout on decompression period.
