Let's get to know each other a bit more...

This pet needs emergency placement. Please click here to go to our emergency placement page for more information. Vino is on the at-risk list for medical reasons. He is an adult cat with FIV and FELV and an upper respiratory infection. He is eating and needs a quiet home to convalesce. A volunteer writes: I met Vino a few days after his arrival at the care center. I just took a look at him laying peacefully in the middle of his kennel and fell in love. A dark shadow, a mix of black and brown fur, covering a frail and overly thin body, gentle eyes looking  with trust at me.  He was not a youngie, he clearly had a hard time on the streets where a Good Samaritan found him. Vino seemed content and relaxed though with my petting. He let me straighten up his kennel, his present home without fuss, knowing intuitively that I was a friend. I was worried when I left him, worried that something was not right beside the usual issues we find in stray cats who come in poor shape ....The next day, I learned that sweet Vino was FIV and FeLV positive. Cats can live a long life with these conditions(contagious only to other cats and not to other species) although not always as they are more susceptible to infections and other ailments than felines without FIV/FeLV.  They need to be solo indoor cats in a household or share their life with other FeLV+ cats. Vino needs you now.... He is a very sweet cat who is still dreaming that life can be better, safe in a home and loved just the way he is...   I have feline leukemia and FIV and am living my life to the fullest! Vino is laying at the front of the kennel, laying on his side and resting his head on his front paws. As the kennel door is opened, he picks his head up to look at the assessor, eyes soft. He allows all petting, leaning into it. Vino is able to be easily picked up, remaining calm and leaning against the assessor while he is held. When he is placed back into his kennel, he goes back to laying down, continuing to allow and lean into all petting. Vino interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is suitable for any level of adopter experience.
