Hello, my name is Hazel. My animal id is #241249. I am a desexed female brown brindle dog at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 8 years 1 months old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 12/14/2025, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- no time for animal.
Hazel has been placed on the At Risk list for medical reasons. She has a mass on the left lateral shoulder that needs removal and histopathology.

Behaviorally, Hazel has been social and allowed all handling from staff. What my friends at ACC say about me: I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me. I am a sweet, social, older gal, looking for the perfect forever home! I have been known to shower my favorite people in love! I will need daily physical activity to keep me healthy and happy!

Summary (7):: 12/17/25: Hazel has been observed to be vocalizing and panting heavily at the front of the kennel when the room is inactive. 12/15/25- Hazel is at the middle of her pop up crate with a neutral body, she slowly comes to the front and is easily leashed. She is taken for a street walk. She walks on a loose leash with a mild pull at times to spots to sniff. No reaction to any stimuli and does check ins with handler. She allows handler to scratch her head, neck and back. She gently takes treats that are offered. She is taken for her assessment where is collared and explores the room. She is leashed and she plants, handler tosses in treats and Hazel slowly goes in her crate.
