What my friends at ACC say about me: I can go home today! My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! It is unknown if I have ever lived with other animals or children. I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me. I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

Summary (7):: 11/22/25: Squishy has been opening up to familiar staff. This morning Squishy allowed handler to bathe her and lather her with a towel, Squishy remained very calm as handler was cleaning her body. She would allow for her tail to be cleaned, her ears to be touched and cleaned as well, and allowed staff to nudge her to her side to clean her underbelly area. Squishy would remain with a neutral body and neutral tail position. Squishy was calm through the entire 20 minutes interaction. 11/20/25: Squishy is at the front of his kennel as handler approaches lying down. He is leashed while distracted with treats and but does not stand and continues to lay down near the front of kennel. Handler attempts to use treats, squeakers, gentle encouragement and leash pressure to get Squishy out of kennel but all are unsuccessful. Handler clips Squishy's leash in kennel and removes it before ending the interaction.

ENERGY LEVEL:: We have no history on Squishy so we cannot be certain of their behavior in a home environment. However, they will need daily mental and physical activity to stay engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct their energy and enthusiasm.

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: Level 1

Potential challenges: : Anxiety

Potential challenges comments:: Anxiety: Squishy has been obsvered to be panting and pacing during the assessment. If Squishy displays anxious behavior in their future home, we recommend puzzle toys, long walks, and giving them other things to focus on to alleviate their anxiety. Positive reinforcement, force-free training should be used. Please see handout on Generalized Anxiety.
