Tia Mia is comfortable at this time but due to her age and possible cancer, palliative care is recommended for her so she can live out the remainder of her life peacefully. Tia Mia can be nervous at first, but she has warmed up to the staff and has recently been friendly and tolerant of medical handling. Meet Tia Mia! She is an affectionate, calm and loving senior cat. She is described as a couch potato and so sweet and friendly. She is known to spend most of her time lounging in the living room. Her age doesn't stop her from acting like a kitten once and a while, as she likes to play with toys and even hide & seek.

Bloodwork results: CBC: All values WNL Biochemistry: BUN 46 high, otherwise all values WNL TT4: 2.1 WNL A: Mild azotemia - r/o pre-renal (i.e. dehydration), renal (though Creat 1.7 and SDMA 13 WNL)) Otherwise bloodwork looks great; no obvious organ dyfunction present on bloodwork P: CTM in shelter and seek placement, P should go to a quiet, low stress environment so she can live out her golden years

Noted skin tent when out for cysto (no UB palpated, nosorb placed to collect urine). Gave SQ LRS 100 ml, pend UA results for additional treatment plan.

P on list for urine collection via cystocentesis. P was tolerant of imaging when wrapped in a towel and was sweet / soliciting attention afterwards. Moderately sized soft urinary bladder with abnormally shaped (bilobed and cavitated with poor demarcation) intraluminal soft tissue echogenicity (1,13cm x1.0cm and 1.16cm x 0.87cm) cranial to bladder trigone branching off of wall (appears firmly adhered, not gravity dependent). No shadowing or snow globe effect, remainder of bladder wall appears WNL. Bladder mass r/o bladder neoplasia vs bladder polyp vs other Urine NOT collected via cystocentesis for UA given presence of possible bladder neoplasia (concern for seeding into abdomen). Prognosis: Poor for long term but P has good QOL / is clinically stable @tt P added to ARL, recc leave shelter for palliative care given suspect bladder neoplasia given P age (i.e. more likely to be neoplastic over polyp). Monitor closely for dysuria / stranguria while in care - If at any time P is unable to urinate recc EHR to limit suffering.

Basic Information:: Mia is an approx. 19-year-old DSH spayed cat who was surrendered due to the baby's allergies in the home.

She sometimes had accidents around the home, around 4 times a month. The location of the litterbox was quiet. The owner did not attempted to move the litterbox or change the litter type. It is possible that Mia had a hard time reaching the litterbox due to possible arthritis. We recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litter box should this behavior continue. We recommend that Tia Mia be provided with numerous, easy-access litter boxes throughout the house as she adjusts to her new living space.

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Level 1

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Upon approach, Tia Mia is sitting beneath her flip bed, grooming herself. When the assessor opens the door, she continues, only stopping as they slowly offer their hand to her. She looks at the hand with a neutral expression and neutral ears, then presses her head into it. She slowly walks out toward the assessor, arching her back and her tail lifting high as she is pet on her head and along her back. She purrs and rubs her face onto the assessor, soliciting attention calmly. The assessor lifts her easily and she relaxes into the hold, continuing to purr. Once she is set back down and the assessor exits, she remains at the front of the kennel, watching the room curiously. Tia Mia interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is suitable for any level of adopter experience.
