Summary:: Caesar was surrender to the Care center due to a bite incident. Caesar was with the owner’s two-year-old son when he bit the child on the face. The owner is unsure what prompted the bite. They yelled for Caesar to get off the child, and Caesar listen. The child was taken to the hospital and treated for two facial lacerations, with one eye swollen shut. While in the Care Center, Caesar presented as tense and hypervigilant. Due to the severity of Caesar bite and location of the bite, Caesar is not a candidate for a handling assessment.
Summary (7):: 12/31/25 (KSV): Caesar is lying down in kennel, and as the handler speaks to him, Caesar tilts his head and stands up with a neutral body. The handler begins to give Caesar treats, which he gently takes and eats; the handler also presents their hand, which Caesar sniffs. The handler continues to give Caesar treats; he maintains a neutral body and slow wagging tail. Ending the interaction, the handler tosses treats into Caesar's kennel.

ENERGY LEVEL:: We have no history on Caesar so we cannot be certain of their behavior in a home environment. However, they will need daily mental and physical activity to stay engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct their energy and enthusiasm.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: New Hope Only
Recommendations:: No children (under 13),Place with a New Hope partner
Recommendations comments:: No children (under 13): Due to the bite incident we recommend an adult only home. We recommend placement with a New Hope rescue partner who is able to provide an experienced, adult-only foster home. Force-free, reward based training and/or consultation with a professional trainer/behaviorist is highly recommended.
