P not tolerant of shaving while awake (attempting to bite) Discussed with LVT OK to sedate with the following to facilitate shaving: - Dexmedetomidine 0.25mL IM - Butorphanol 0.25mL IM in ~10-15min P still resistant to shaving -- gave ketamine 0.25mL IM --> moderate sedation achieved - Reverse with antisedan 0.25mL IM - monitored closely until sternal/ambulatory.

Bloodwork interpretation: CBC - - Marginal anemia (Hct 39%L) without reticulocytosis r/o anemia of chronic disease vs other - Marginal neutrophilia (10K H) / monocytosis (0.84K H) r/o partial stress leukogram vs other Biochemistry - - Mild hyperglobulinemia (4.4H) r/o 2ary to chronic inflammation vs infection vs other - Marginally decreased AST - little clinical signigicance - Mildly elevated ALP (355H) r/o hyperadrenocorticism (suspicion based on clinical signs) vs other endocrinopathy vs 1ary hepatobiliary disease vs inflammatory / reactive vs bone ALP vs other TT4 1N No changes to plan based on BW results, OK to sedate to facilitate shaving. Consider additional diagnostics with placement re full AUS +/- LDDST.

DVM Progress Exam S/O/A: -BAR; observed eating well today. -No C/S/V/D noted. -Clinically stable and maintaining adequately in the shelter environment at this time. -Geriatric dog with abdominal distension/hepatomegaly and chronic ocular abnormalities/blindness OU; prior BW with mild nonspecific vs early abnormalities. P: -Placed Canine Daily Monitoring Log through 9/14 to monitor appetite, GI and respiratory signs, activity and overall clinical status. -Recheck 9/14 to reassess clinical status and determine whether any additional in-shelter medical management is indicated. -Additional diagnostics for abdominal distension/hepatomegaly can be considered after placement.
