Noah
Hello, my name is Noah. My animal id is #266011. I am a male black cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 1 years 3 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 9/21/2026, with the surrender reason stated as person health - medical.
Noah is on the at-risk list for medical reasons. He is a young adult cat with a severe upper respiratory tract infection and high fear in shelter. He will not tolerate treatments and needs supportive care in a veterinary clinic to recover.
Let's get to know each other a bit more...
This pet needs emergency placement. Please click here to go to our emergency placement page for more information. Noah is on the at-risk list for medical reasons. He is a young adult cat with a severe upper respiratory tract infection and high fear in shelter. He will not tolerate treatments and needs supportive care in a veterinary clinic to recover. What my friends at ACC say about me: I have lived with cats in my previous home. I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am. I am looking for a home with a patient person. Noah tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Due to the behavior shown, he may not be a great fit for young children. Any home with older children prepared to adopt this cat should conduct a thorough interaction and endeavor to monitor this cat around their children to prevent these behaviors from being reinforced.

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 9/24/26 FB73 Did a bonded test for Papa 066010 and Noah 266011. When placing them face to face from within their dens for a visual test, Papa stays in the back of the den, laying down tense and observing the handler wide eyed, not reacting to Noah. Noah immediately comes forward to sniff at him, appearing interested. When they portal door is opened, Noah comes out of the den, leaning into the den that Papa is in to sniff him before exploring his kennel. Noah does seem more relaxed with Papa present and is more open to exploring the room, spending more time outside of the den, but he will tense and retreat back into his den when the handler approaches the kennel. Papa remains in his den throughout the interaction and does not move. Later in the day, the handler separates them by closing the portal door. Papa and Noah remain tense in their dens. When approached later on and opening the portal door, Papa still remains frozen in his spot inside of the den, but Noah once again leans forward to sniff him before exploring the other kennel. The handler leaves the room and comes back to check on them later on, and both cats are in their own dens in opposite kennels. 9/27/26 Vol. Noah was curled up, sleeping on top of den. Woke when approached, leaned forward to sniff a cup of Temptations and squeeze-up, then ate. Papa was resting in den. Stood up when given a cup of Temptations and squeeze-up, but didn't eat. Noah cautiously came halfway off the den to sniff my fingers, then hissed, but continued sniffing curiously. Then stuck his head in the den and ate Papa's treats (rude!). Papa looked on, a bit sullen. Noah came forward for more treats and allowed head scratches while eating, but pulled away when finished. Noah was easily coaxed to the other side of the kennel with more treats and cut off. Gave Papa more squeeze-up, but he still didn't eat and backed away from the portal further into the den.

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Noah is laying in his den, pupils dilated and body tense as the assessor approaches. When the kennel door is opened and the den cover is slowly lifted, he sits upright and observes the assessor. He is spoken to softly and petting is attempted with the click stick, and Noah leans away and hisses to avoid contact. The assessor gives him a moment to settle before continuing to interaction, offering some squeeze up on the tool. He hesitantly leans forward to sniff it before quickly beginning to eat it, eating all of it. The assessor places some squeeze up on a tray outside of the portal exit of the den, and with a lot of coaxing Noah slowly exits the den to eat the squeeze up. He is tolerant of petting on the head and cheeks with the tool as he eats but does look up with wide eyes and tense as he is pet. Pickup is not attempted due to observed behavior.
