Lilith is on the at-risk list due to behavior. She is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. She has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. Due to her stress levels, it is in her best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. She would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give her plenty of time and space to adjust, and who have experience with helping a fearful cat adjust to strangers.

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 12/13/24 FB47 Lilith - Soft relaxed and normal in her kennel. 1/6/24 FB47 Lilith is still in heat and appearing friendly. 1/17/25 FB26 Resting on top of her den eyes soft ears forward. She was watching from a distance slowly leaning forward sniffing the scratcher tool. She leans back into position stress whines, low grumbles, and pats the tool when attempting to make contact. She remains in place throughout the interaction. Ended to reduce any further escalation. 1/19/25 Vol. Visual only: I lifted the shoreline cover on the right side of the den, and she wasn’t on that side. I didn’t see her at all. I didn’t hear any hissing or growling while I was in front of her kennel. 1/24/25 FB26 Lilith was curious, sniffing the scratcher tool and head bunting it. She allowed petting with the tool along her head and enjoyed chin scratches. After a few strokes, she gently mouthed the tool before stopping. She then engaged the front kennel low body and ate the offered treats.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Moderate
VOCAL:: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: : Bold,Independent
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:: Fearful,New home adjustment period
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : New Hope Only
RECOMMENDATIONS:: Adult only home
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Lilith, lying on her bedding, watches from a distance with wide, alert eyes and ears pricked forward. She instinctively reaches out and strikes through the kennel bars. Lilith hisses and growls throughout the assessment unable to make contact. She remains by the front with tense body. Ended to reduce stress. 1/4/24 Lilith was sweet and friendly at the front of the kennel, meowing and pawing at the assessor gently. She’s also backpedaling and clearly in heat and so her behavior evaluation remains unchanged despite her temporary friendly demeanor. Lilith is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She extremely stressed in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
