Zooble
Hello, my name is Zooble. My animal id is #257420. I am a desexed male white cat at the Queens Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 4 years 1 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 6/16/2026.
Sorry, this pet is for new hope partners only.
Pre-Screener FormZooble is on the at-risk list due to behavior. He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. Due to his stress levels, it is in his best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. He would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give him plenty of time and space to adjust, and who have experience with helping a fearful cat adjust to strangers.
Let's get to know each other a bit more...
What my friends at ACC say about me: My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. If you are interested in adopting or fostering, please fill out the pre-screener form. This animal is not directly available for adoption through ACC and is only available by completing the pre-screener form.Adoption inquiries sent directly to ACC will not receive a response. Behavior Condition: 4. Orange
KNOWN HISTORY:: Zooble was brought in as a stray, there is no known information on their behavior history in a home environment. Upon intake, they were fearful but allowed staff to scan and place in a den. Was not collared due to FAS.
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 6/23/26 FB25 Zooble is inside of his den, out of sight. I slowly open the door and he can be heard grumbling and low growling, which gets louder as I approach. I talk softly to him and place a dish of squeeze up in the kennel, using a scratcher to slide it in front of the opening. He doesn't escalate but I don't push further, he still needs some time. 6/25/26 FB79 Inside of the den, Zooble stands with a tense body, low tucked tail and his ears flat to his head; when i spoke to him he remained focused on me with wide dilated eyes and when i attempted to bring the tool in he quickly darted out of the den and lunged towards me. I was able to stop him with the tool and ended the interaction. Zooble could still be heard hissing, lunging and swatting from inside of the den after i closed the kennel door and stepped away to the other side of the room.

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: 6/18/26 Upon approach, Zooble is inside of their den with their face peeking out. They have wide, dilated eyes and gives the assessor a hard stare, not returning slow blinking. They are curled up with a tight body and can be heard low growling. When the assessor inches in a scratcher tool with squeeze up on it, Zooble remains frozen. When squeeze up is left on the side of the den, they do lean forward to sniff it, but do not take it. After a few moments of being spoken to softly, they return a slow blink. When the scratcher tool approaches them again, their eyes widen and there is more growling. They tolerate petting on their head and sides of the face. When the scratcher is run along their body, they growl louder, stand and quickly move out of reach, farther into the den. No pick up is attempted due to high FAS. 6/29/26 Upon approach, Zooble is hidden away in his den. When the kennel door is opened, he can be heard low growling. The growling increases in volume as the assessor speaks softly to him. When a scratcher is slowly brought toward the den entrance, he sticks his paw out and swats at it repeatedly. The assessor is not able to run it along his body. He hisses at the assessor and when they are able to glimpse his face, his eyes are extremely dilated. Zooble appears extremely fearful and is currently showing increased defensive behaviors as he settles in to the shelter. Zooble is displaying behaviors that may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat and is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
