Animal Profile

Precious Lady

Hello, my name is Precious Lady. My animal id is #226997. I am a female white cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 9 years 1 weeks old.

I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 5/13/2025, with the surrender reason stated as animal health - other.

Precious Lady is on the at-risk list for medical reasons. She is a sweet, mature cat that is chronically underweight. We suspect inflammatory bowel disease. She needs placement for a hypoallergenic diet trial and advanced blood tests with a local veterinarian who can manage her long term care.

ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Laid back

VOCAL:: Quiet

CHARACTER TYPE: : Shy ,Sweet,Curious,Timid,Independent

POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:: New home adjustment period

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Level 2

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Precious Lady was resting turned sideways with her head down against the back wall. Alert with neutral eyes. She allows petting along the head and body with the scratcher tool. Remains immobile throughout the assessment with no interest in engaging the front when spoken softly to. During pick up, she was tense but when settled back down she continues to tolerates a bit more of attention. Precious Lady tolerates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. She will likely need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred or at least be well counseled in fearful cat behavior.
