Peanut
Hello, my name is Peanut. My animal id is #246695. I am a desexed female brown dog at the Queens Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 4 years 3 months old.
I came into the shelter as a agency on 2/1/2026.
Peanut is at risk due to behavioral concerns. Peanut has been showing signs of kennel stress and deterioration as her length of stay progresses despite best efforts to keep her comfortable. She has been seen jumping to the top of her kennel or the kennel door, fingerpainting her kennel with feces, and attempting to engage in a kennel fight once out of her kennel. Peanut engages in training sessions in a calmer setting and readily engages in play with soft/plush toys. Medically, Peanut is apparently healthy.

Peanut is enrolled in our Shelter Scholar program and is learning to channel her energy in all the right ways. She is working on impulse control and leash biting, and through her training she is discovering how to stay focused and calm even when excitement takes over. With positive reinforcement and consistent practice, Peanut is making great strides and is well on her way to becoming a more composed and confident pup.
