Fluffy
Hello, my name is Fluffy. My animal id is #249415. I am a desexed male gray tabby cat at the Queens Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 10 years 2 months 1 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 5/10/2026, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- moving.
Recommend at risk list for medical reasons. Fluffy is a 10 year old cat with diabetes and obesity. He will need insulin administration twice daily and regular veterinary visits for diabetes follow-up. Behaviorally, Fluffy has been very interaction and loves petting.

This pet needs emergency placement. Please click here to go to our emergency placement page for more information. Fluffy is on the at-risk list for medical concerns. Fluffy is a 10 year old cat with diabetes and obesity. He will need insulin administration twice daily and regular veterinary visits for diabetes follow-up. Behaviorally, Fluffy has been very interaction and loves petting. What my friends at ACC say about me: I am a sweet, social, older gentleman, looking for the perfect forever home! Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy! I have been known to shower my favorite people in love! I love getting pets and - you guessed it - snuggles! My purr motor is always running! I am a cat that is in need of a lap! I can't wait to be your new lap cat. I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me. A volunteer writes: Embracing his unconventional living arrangements and unique designation of resident cat seal, Fluffy stretches out on his giant bed in his enormous dog crate to half roll over and show us his belly. He's currently staying in our medical wing because of some medical needs, hence the crate and bed, but Fluffy seems to emphatically say with every chirp, nuzzle and headbunt that these are just things and what he really wants are friends. A terrifically social senior gentleman, he bounced around a little bit before arriving at his most recent guardian where he was a friendly and quiet couch potato, playing when interested but with a sweet gentleness. Fluffy's now with us looking for a forever home and he's hoping that you'll come in and visit him soon.

Diabetes mostly involves metabolizing sugar, particularly a sugar called glucose. Tissues cannot absorb glucose without insulin, so the level of insulin affects the glucose level. The main symptoms are excessive urination, thirst, appetite, and weight loss. Watching for these symptoms is the best way to know how your pet is doing. Two complications can occur with diabetic cats - if a cat's blood sugar is too high for an extended period of time or if it becomes too low secondary to an insulin injection. Both are emergency situations, and you should see your veterinarian or an emergency hospital immediately. Never alter the insulin dose without discussing it first with your veterinarian. Regulation needs a consistent balance of diet, exercise, and insulin. The current choice of food for diabetic cats is a low-carbohydrate, high-protein diet (usually prescription through your veterinarian). At this time, this pet requires twice daily insulin injections. Diabetes in cats might not be permanent, and it is possible for some cats to enter diabetic remission with the proper management.

ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Moderate
VOCAL:: Somewhat chatty
CHARACTER TYPE: : Social,Sweet,Affectionate,People oriented,Easy going
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:: Overstimulation,New home adjustment period
Potential challenges comments:: Fluffy did scratch in February of 2026. The bite did not break skin and was due to Fluffy being overstimulated as he was getting pet for too long. While no signs of overstimulation have been observed in shelter, a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Fluffy becomes reactive. Treats should be used to reward appropriate responses to physical attention.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Level 1
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Upon approach, Fluffy was lying at the front of the kennel, face and eyes neutral, ears are forward. As the kennel door opened, he immediately rubbed his head on the assessor’s hand and began to meow. He enjoyed all petting head to tail, leaning in, rubbing, rolling and purring. He immediately ate the squeeze up placed in his kennel. As he was eating the treat, the assessor did a partial lift due to his size, with no issues. Fluffy interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is suitable for any level of adopter experience.
