Michi
Hello, my name is Michi. My animal id is #226866. I am a desexed female torbie cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 14 years old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 5/10/2025.
Michi needs at risk placement for medical reasons. She is a sweet geriatric underweight cat with diarrhea. She is eating but needs a home to rest in while a local veterinarian manages her response to a gastrointestinal diet trial and medicine as an outpatient.

This pet needs emergency placement. Please click here to go to our emergency placement page for more information. Michi needs at risk placement for medical reasons. She is a sweet geriatric underweight cat with diarrhea. She is eating but needs a home to rest in while a local veterinarian manages her response to a gastrointestinal diet trial and medicine as an outpatient. A volunteer writes: Michi is a gentle senior who was brought to us by her finder as she did not appear to fair well all alone in the street and in the pouring rain. Michi charmed staff right from her arrival at the care center, purring and accepting petting and she has continued to do so in our medical room. She is a real sweetie, a pretty calico who loves company and good food! Nothing is known about her past but what we are sure of is that Michi needs a safe, caring and loving place to boost her health and gift her with the best golden years. Michi is at the Manhattan Care Center dreaming to be yours... What my friends at ACC say about me: My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! It is unknown if I have ever lived with other animals or children. I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me. I am a sweet, social, older gal, looking for the perfect forever home! Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy! I am a cat that is in need of a lap! I can't wait to be your new lap cat.
My medical notes are...

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Michi is a social, calm, and sweet senior lady with medical needs that may need to be addressed. She was lying down in the den with her front limbs extended and her head and ears forward, focused on the assessor with a soft body and eyes. She sniffs the assessor's hand and welcomes petting on the head. She leans in for cheek rubs and looks back when stroking her body. The assessor applies gentle upward pressure on her side and chest to lift her up to the ceiling of the den. She pokes her head out of the den and needs some encouragement to walk out, so the assessor gently pulls her forward. She walks to the food bowl to eat wet food and continues to tolerate more attention. During pick up, she is calm and relaxed when held for 5 seconds. After placing her back down, she appreciates more petting and cheek rubs. Michi interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is suitable for any level of adopter experience who demonstrates a basic understanding of typical cat behavior.
