Hello, my name is Icloud. My animal id is #259776. I am a female tabby kitten at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 3 months 3 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 7/15/2026.
Icloud is on the at-risk list due to behavior. She is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. She has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. Due to her stress levels, it is in her best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. She would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give her plenty of time and space to adjust, and who have experience with helping a fearful cat adjust to strangers.

KNOWN HISTORY:: Icloud was brought in as a stray, there is no known information on her behavior history in a home environment.
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 7/21/26 Vol. Both kittens were hiding in their privacy den. Gave them some catnip mice and Fur-falles. I lifted the den cover to peek inside and Yahoo backed away; iCloud was already huddled in the corner. Tried to lure them out with some Squeeze-up but they weren’t interested. Had no interest in playing at this time. Never came out of the den. Very fearful. 7/22/26 Vol. iCloud was sitting upright at back of den, huddled against sibling. Her body was tense and her pupils were dilated. She briefly sniffed squeeze up on scratcher tool but did not eat. In response to petting with scratcher tool, she hissed and pressed her body against rear wall of den. 7/24/26 Vol. In hidey box and could not see any of them. Put in treat bowl - there was some quick movement in the box but otherwise no reaction. Approached with treats on tool, no movement or reaction. Let rest, no movement or reaction. Removed and ended interaction. 7/28/26 Vol. Only saw one cat hiding in the den and not sure which one it was. Tried to give the kitten Squeeze-up on the clicker but he shied away from it. Had no interest in either the cat dancer or the laser. Tried to scratch head with the tool but he back away from it. He never came out of his den. Still very fearful. 8/5/26 Vol. ICloud was pressed against back wall of den, crouched with a tense body and neutral eyes. With a lot of coaxing, she played interactively with a wand toy for several minutes. She pawed and nipped at the toy gently, remaining at back of den. She turned her face away from squeeze up offered on scratcher tool. She was very tolerant of head and cheeks rubs with scratcher tool, although it was not clear if she enjoyed the contact. After interaction she came out of kennel to continue playing with toy by herself. 8/7/26 Vol. Behind litter box - Yahoo in front, round eyed, ears forward, Icloud behind him, eyes narrow. Put treat bowl on shelf by entry - both looked at it and ignored. went through cubby door with hard treats on scratcher tool - they both scrunched back a little - Yahoo sniffed and ignored. Dropped treats and approached Yahoo with tool - he twisted body but did not leave - allowed head scratches, looking over when stopped. Approached Icloud - she burrowed closer to wall but allowed scratches, closing eyes and opening when stopped. Went back to Yahoo - he immediately allowed scratches, no squirming. Went back to Icloud, she also allowed scratches. Opened main cage to see if could coax out - no reaction. Went back in cubby - gave each a few scratches (no squirming) and ended interaction.

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Icloud is a shy cat who is still adjusting to the shelter environment. During her assessment, she briefly tolerated gentle petting with a scratcher tool but remained alert and anxious. She then chose to quickly move to the top of her den to watch from a distance, so the interaction was ended to reduce her stress. Yahoo will benefit from a patient adopter who can provide a quiet environment and allow her to build confidence at his own pace. A gradual introduction to her new home and letting her initiate interactions will help her feel more secure. Due to the behavior shown, she may not be a great fit for young children. Any home with older children prepared to adopt this cat should conduct a thorough interaction and endeavor to monitor this cat around their children to prevent these behaviors from being reinforced.
