What my friends at ACC say about me: My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! It is unknown if I have ever lived with other animals or children. I would do best in a home with only adult humans. I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home. A volunteer writes: Stark white like a snowman, or a dogo argentino, with a precious one brown spot on one ear, Egg Nog is a headturner of a handsome boy. He has pink tinged lips and eyes and nose just like the coal that forms the eyes of nose of a snowman. Egg Nog is a sweet big baby. He is a tall 62 pounds, but seems bigger. Eggnog, like most of our dogs, struggle with being in a kennel the majority of the day. He craves interaction and enrichment, family and love. Upon his initial arrival to acc, he appreciated cheese slices and gentle contact, but he has shown his more social side since then. During his dog to dog greet, he offered bouncy play bows and a game of chase. Egg Nog is at risk due to his kennel stress.

Summary:: Due to Egg Nog entering the facility as a stray, there is no prior dog-to-dog history recorded 01/30/25: When off leash at the Care Center Egg Nog is introduced to a greeter female dog. At the gate Egg Nog enters the yard hard pulling to the gate. Egg Nog scents the greeter female with a loose frame and a wagging tail. Egg Nog offers play bows and the greeter reciprocates mirroring his behavior. Both Egg Nog and the greeter chase one another along the gate. Stopping, becoming bouncy, play bowing and returning to chasing one another. Due to operation limitations a face to face greet was not conducted.
Summary (6):: 03/04- Was witnessed tossing karanda bed around in kennel. 3/3: Staff report Egg Nog is beginning to kennel fight as he passes other dogs kennels. He was moved to a kennel closer to the door to accommodate this new behavior. 03/01/25: Egg Nog is sleeping in kennel as handler approaches. He is leashed with ease and walks with a neutral frame out to the play yard. Egg Nog will check in with handler often throughout the walk and will walk in front of handler, sitting in front of them to solicit treats. Handler ques Egg Nog into a "sit" as another dog is passing and he maintains focus on handler, taking treats gently from hand. Once in the yard, he is clipped to a drag lead and free to explore the space. Handler tosses a Jolly Ball to Egg Nog and he will initially chase after it but does not engage with it any further. Egg Nog takes treats gently from hand and accepts petting with a loose frame. After his session, he is leashed with ease and returns to kennel safely. 02/28/25: As handler is leaving through the play yards on the second floor, they can hear Egg Nog throwing his metal water bowl around his kennel repeatedly. He does this for several minutes. 2/25/25: ACS reports that Eggnop began to leash bite and began to to jump on them in the yard. 2/25: Egg Nog continues to throw and toss his water bowl around his kennel, biting and shaking it at times. He does this for several minutes at a time repeatedly throughout the day. 02/22/25 (Trainer Note): Egg Nog is standing in his kennel as the handler approaches. He is easily leashed and pulls moderately to the canine training room. Egg Nog is loose and social, allowing the handler to attach a drag leash. He independently explores the various enrichment items and visibly relaxes, moving slower and releasing tension from his musculature. He is easily leashed and returned to kennel without issue.
Summary (7):: 02/20/25: Egg Nog is observed throwing his water bowl around his kennel. He ceases when the handler approaches, but is observed to be panting heavly with dilated pupils. 02/15/20: Egg Nog is heard throwing his water bowl around his kennel. 01/30/25 Egg Nog is standing in front of his kennel toe tapping as the handler approaches. Egg nog is leashed with ease as he attempts to force his way out, proceeding outside to the play yard. Egg Nog displays a loose, relaxed body while trotting alongside the handler. (Please refer to dog-to-dog). Egg Nog is returned to kennel, trotting back with a relaxed body. He is guided into kennel as the kennel door is quickly closed due to him attempting to flee. 1/27/25: Egg Nog stood calmly at front of kennel and was leashed with ease. He walked to the BA room for his assessment. Egg Nog's hackles raised as he entered the room. Egg Nog was highly food motivated and was collared while distracted with cheese slices. He displayed some FAS with facial flushing and an episode of liquid diarrhea. Handler briefly left room and upon reentering Egg Nog greeted them by jumping up as if about to mount. Egg Nog was not persistent as handler walked away. Egg Nog was returned to kennel by handler 2.
Date of initial:: 1/27/2025
Summary:: loose body, allowed handling, occasionally mouthy during exam
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:: Level 3
Recommendations:: No children (under 13)
Recommendations comments:: No children (under 13): Due to how uncomfortable Eggnog is currently with touch and novel stimuli, we feel that an adult-only home would be most beneficial at this time.
Potential challenges: : Mouthiness/poor bite inhibition,Handling/touch sensitivity,Fearful,Leash-biting
Potential challenges comments:: Mouthiness/poor bite inhibition: Eggnog was observed to become mouthy during his medical exam. Little pressure is applied, but this is a behavior that should be extinguished through training alternate behaviors and lack of reward (ex. walking away whenever Eggnog's teeth make contact with skin). Please see handout on Mouthiness/poor bite inhibitionMouthiness/poor bite inhibition. Handling/touch sensitivity: Eggnog began head whipping when his flank was touched, showing discomfort with touch in certain areas. It is important to avoid touching this are at this time and to be cautious when touching him in other areas as we do not know where he may have other sensitivities. Positive reinforcement, reward-based training should be used to pair touch with good things such as food rewards to teach Eggnog to be more comfortable with this. Please see handout on Handling/touch sensitivity. Fearful: Eggnog is a bit fearful at the care center. It is important to always go slow and give him the option to walk away from any social interaction. Eggnog should never be forced to approach anything that he is uncomfortable with or to submit to petting or handling. It should always be Eggnog’s choice to approach a new person or thing. He would do best in an initially calm and quiet home environment and should be given time to acclimate to his new surroundings. Please see handout on Decompression Period. Leash-biting- ACS reports that Eggnog began to leash bite and jump on them in the yard.
