Summary (6):: 02/21/25 (PM): Pookie Bear's behavior remains consistent with his note from the AM. (AM): Pookie Bear is standing in the middle of kennel with a neutral frame as handler approaches. Handler tosses treats which he readily engages with. Handler cracks open the kennel door and clips their lead to Pookie's collar. He walks with a neutral frame to the Live Room where he is switched to a drag lead and free to explore the space. He readily engages with tossed treats and will lean into petting with a loose frame. After his session, Pookie is switched to a slip lead and is returned to kennel safely. 2/20/25: Pookie Bear is sitting at the front of his kennel as handler approaches. He is eager to come out of kennel, but will back away each time the lead got close to his head. He would take treats slowly while the handler proceeded to leash him. While being leashed, he was able to get his paw through while bolting out of the kennel. The handler was able to place him back into kennel, where he was sable to lift his paw and be leashed properly. He was then taken outside for a walk. On the walk, he had a tense body frame and pulled hard to mark his territory everywhere. He pulled on the way back to kennel and was able to enter with no issues. 02/19/25 Pookie Bear is lying down as the handler approaches. Pookie will rise and come forward standing still in front of his kennel door. Pookie will begin to low growl when seeing the handler's lead. The handler will toss him some treats in which he takes quickly. The handler will toss more treats and leash him this time simultaneously. Pookie Bear is taken outside to play group where he will trot over to the play yard displaying a neutral frame. While on their way to the play yard a dog with a novel handler will hard bark at him in which he ignores. (Please refer to Dog-to-Dog in BA for more insight). When returned to kennel, Pookie is loose in frame, soliciting attention from other handlers while on his way back to kennel. Pookie will enter his kennel with no issue. 02/19/25 (AM): Pookie Bear is lying at the back of kennel with a neutral frame as handler approaches. He comes forward and engages in a treat toss pattern game. As Pookie Bear is at the back of kennel, handler readies their lead inside the kennel and attempts to lure Pookie through with treats. He will jump away and as handler resets their lead, he begins jumping and pawing at the door to exit. A second handler distracts with a squeaker and Pookie Bear is leashed. As the leash falls over his head he will low growl. Once out of kennel, Pookie Bear pulls mildly to the Canine Behavior Office. He is kept on slip lead due to not being collared but is free to explore at his own pace. He engages with squeeze cheese and will take treats gently from a second handler. After his session, Pookie Bear is returned to kennel safely.

When the handler attempts to leash Pookie Bear, Pookie Bear evades the leash before low growling at the handler during the second attempt. When the handler does not remove their hand during Pookies growling, Pookie leaps up at the handlers hand and vocalizes. The handler closes the kennel door and resets. The handler is able to leash him twice but each time pookie will put his paw through the slip loop while he proceeds to jump at the door. Pookie Bear focuses on the handlers hand through out. With pookie jumping at the door, the lip leash gets wrapped around his torso. The handler proceeds to through treats at him to get the leash to fall off of him. When successful the handler pulls the leash out of the kennel. Pookie immediately pounces on the leash and tries to drag it back in but fails. The handler attempts one last time to leash Pookie but he proceeds to growl and launches up at the handler's hand again. Pookie then bites the leash and attempts to tug but the handler is able to quickly pull the leash out from pookies mouth. The handler closes the kennel door ending the interaction. (AM): Pookie is lying at the back of kennel as handler approaches. He readily comes forward once he notices handler and engages with tossed treats. Handler tosses a handful of treats to redirect him to the back of kennel and uses treats to lure him through the lead. He becomes avoidant and will jump away as the lead makes contact. He jumps up onto the kennel door, pawing and digging his way out as handler fixes their lead. As they drop the lead over his head, he low growls. Pookie exits kennel and pulls mildly to the yard. Pookie spends time scenting and exploring the space. He will readily approach handler with a loose frame and takes treats gently from hand. After his session, Pookie is returned to kennel safely. - 02/17/25 (staff report): It is reported that as handler presented the lead, Pookie Bear began biting onto the leash before jumping up and snapping at their hand.
