Sarabi is at risk for medical reasons, having been diagnosed with Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex, which is contagious to other dogs. Behaviorally, we have no concerns for Sarabi, whom we believe would be suitable for most homes.

A volunteer writes: In Swahili, her name means 'mirage', but this charming brindle beauty is as real as it gets! Sarabi's full of life, and EVERYONE who's been lucky enough to spend time with her has fallen head-over-heels for her fun-loving, affectionate ways. Read over the comments from her previous family and our own staff, and you'll see for yourself, Sarabi truly has it all! Is she kid-friendly? You bet! Does she snuggle? Oh boy, does she! Can she learn commands? Already on it! Is she dog friendly? Yes! Though Sarabi can get a bit overexcited during play with large dogs, she lived in easy-going harmony with a little four-legged sibling in her previous home. Happy to share her toys, her food and her heart, Sarabi is the perfect pet for almost any family. She's velvety soft and cuddly, wonderfully playful, an enthusiastic walker, seemingly house trained and a fantastic model, too, posing politely on command, then nibbling her reward treats delicately from my hand. Even her initial intake notes read like an A-plus report card: 'Sarabi was very loose bodied and she was jumping around and galloping. She lay on my lap and was rolling over for belly rubs. She listened to the cues I gave for sit stay and down and when she was on the leash she followed me by my side. When I went to put her in the kennel she walked right in and took treats from my hand.' How could you not want to take this girl home?!!! Sarabi means L-O-V-E and she has so much to give to the family who welcomes her into their life. Step up for this sweetheart today!

Basic Information:: Sarabi is a female tan brindle medium mixed breed dog that is estimated to be 3 years old. Her previous owner got her 3 years ago when someone the street was giving her away and she decided to take her home. She stayed with them for 3 years until her family had to move into a military base and she was not allowed in it.

Sarabi has had limited interaction with dogs in the care center. Though intially tense and avoidant, she was observed to open up and engage in play. Sarabi has displayed potential to become over aroused by play behavior. Slow future introductions are recommended between Sarabi and respectful dogs.

IN SHELTER OBSERVATIONS:: Sarabi consistently displays highly social behavior with handlers in the shelter environment. She maintains a loose wiggly body throughout interactions and solicits attention from handlers.
