King

Hello, my name is King. My animal id is #17261. I am a male brown brindle dog at the . The shelter thinks I am about 3 years 2 weeks old.

I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 12/29/2017, with the surrender reason stated as animal behaviour - too active.

Reserved

Someone has already placed a deposit on me. I'm no longer available.

King is at risk due to being diagnosed with Canine Upper Respiratory Disease Complex and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other dogs. King is nervous and needs to warm up to people before he allows a lot of handling.

Potential challenges: : Handling/touch sensitivity,Fearful

Potential challenges comments:: Handling/touch sensitivity:King has been noted to become uncomfortable with handling at times, especially when a person is reaching over him. It is important to always go slow and give King the option to walk away from any social interaction. King should never be forced to approach anything that he is uncomfortable with or to submit to petting or handling. It should always be King’s choice to approach a new person or thing. King may do best in an initially calm and quiet home environment and should be given time to acclimate to his new surroundings. Fearful:King is nervous with new people. He manages his stress well and has not escalated or shown any aggression, but he does need time to warm up to new people. He does best with a slow approach, and should be permitted to greet new people at his own pace and to initiate interaction (rather than being approached and pet immediately by a new person) so he has time to adjust and become comfortable before he is handled. He should be spoken to softly and gently.
