Summary:: 5/28: Aries greets M LMB dog nose to nose with forward ears, relaxed face, alert tail. 7/8: Aries is used as a greeter dog. Aries approaches the gate to greet a F LMB dog. He has a soft body, wagging tail. He greets another F LMB dog at the gate with a relaxed face and walks away on his own.

Summary (5):: 7/21: Aries is wide-eyed, panting. He is easily leashed and bolts out of his kennel. Once outside, he pulls to the end of the leash, spins back, and approaches handler. He is moving very quickly and putting his front limbs down to the ground and face towards the handler's feet. On the walk, he is pulling much more than usual. Handler tosses treats on the floor and rope harnesses him, making him much more manageable. He pulls into the yard on return and jumps right into the pool. Handler is attempting to coax him over to be leashed, and he evades her, jumping into the pool 2 more times. He is lured through the loop with a treat and returned to the crate. He is provided a chew for enrichment. 7/19: Aries is easily leashed and walks out of the room. He pulls towards the ramp and is brought on a walk, keeping a loose leash. He pulls into the lot to go towards the yard. He is let off leash and engages with toys tossed. He appreciates pets and follows treats into his crate.

Summary (6):: 7/16: Aries is easily leashed and walks past barking dogs without issue. He is brought on a walk. They go into the yard, and he is let off leash. He jumps up seeking attention, panting with wide eyes. A toy is tossed, and Aries engages briefly and drops the toy. When the handler points to get him to engage, he paw slaps her away from the toy and blocks it. He allows himself to be leashed and is moved into a pop-up crate on return.   7.12 Aries was at the front of his kennel barking and jumping up excitedly. Staff opened his kennel door, and he continued to be a little jumpy, but staff was able to loop him. Coming out, Aries was very jumpy and spinning around. Once staff got him to the door to go outside, he pulled moderately. Aries was taken on a short walk and then into the small yard. During his walk, he pulled a little but eventually walked nicely with staff. Once Aries was in the yard, he immediately jumped into the pool and was splashing around. Going back in, he was easily looped but pulled staff the whole way back to his kennel. 7/2: Aries is dancing in his crate on approach, panting with wide eyes. He is easily leashed and brought to the yard. He is jumping on staff, unable to settle. He accepts treats offered, and they go on a walk. He pulls on and off and returns without issue. 6.24 Aries was at his crate door barking, excited to go out. He was easily leashed, but once coming out, he was very jumpy and spinning. Staff held the leash away to try to prevent him from jumping. Aries pulled moderately hard and continued to jump and spin until we got outside and down the ramp. During his walk, he walked okay, only pulling sometimes when getting excited. Going back inside, he started to pull very hard on the leash and was spinning again. Staff was still able to get him into his crate easily.

Summary (7):: 6/12 Aries was standing at the front of his kennel. he is easily leashed and brought outside, ignoring neighboring dogs on the way out. He was walked around the building and brought to the yard. The drag leash was secured to him. Aries runs around the yard quickly and jumps on staff frequently. He remained very close to staff, accepting pets. Upon return, he goes directly into his kennel without issue. 6/9: Aries was in the yard engaged with a soft toy. As the handler approaches to take a photo, he rushes towards her. She steps back, and he recovers, engaging with the toy. At the end of the session, another toy is tossed towards the entrance; he trades toys and allows all handling to be returned without issue. 6/8: Aries is standing at the kennel front, panting, as staff arrives. He is easily leashed and brought to the yard, ignoring neighboring dogs and pulling hard on the way out. A drag leash is secured to him, and he explores very briefly. Aries comes back to staff, accepting pets with loose body language. He jumps up on staff frequently. When staff sits on the bench, Aries jumps into their lap. He remains very close to staff throughout the interaction. When it is time to return, he goes directly into his kennel without issue. 5/28: Aries was easily leashed and ignores barking dogs in passing. He is brought to the yard and a drag leash is attached. He remains close to handler, following them to the bench. He accepts pets, but as they continue, he begins panting heavily. When pets stop, he zooms back and forth in the yard. Handler decides to bring him on a walk. He is tolerant of being rope harnessed and walks nicely. He returns without issue.

Potential challenges comments:: Resource Guarding: Aries has been observed to rush towards a handler when engaged with a soft toy. He should be left alone when playing. We advise against ever removing items from Aries' possession without safely trading for an item of greater or equal value. Please see handout on Resource Guarding. Basic Manner/Impulse Control: Aries lacks basic manners and impulse control. It is recommended that default behaviors such as "Leave it", "Sit/Stay", "Down" are reinforced to substitute any frustration and teach him to control his impulses instead of simply reacting; proper management is also advised. Force-free, reward-based training only is recommended. Please see the handout on Basic Manners and Impulse Control. Handling/touch sensitivity: Aries is generally comfortable with seeking attention, often jumping up and hugging staff in passing, climbing over their laps in the yard. On one occasion, he was not comfortable and grumbled at a staff member when they were interacting with him. His warning was respected and he recovered quickly. Please see handout on Handling and Touch Sensitivity. Anxiety: Aries appears anxious at the care center, panting and pacing. If Aries displays anxious behavior in his future home, we recommend puzzle toys, long walks, and giving him other things to focus on to alleviate his anxiety.
