Date of assessment:: 10/11/2025
Summary:: Due to Wiggles high level of fearfulness, a handling assessment will not be conducted at this time.
Summary:: According to Wiggle's previous owner(s), He avoids, barks, and growls at other dogs. Familiar/Unfamiliar are not specified. On/off leash are not specified. 10/22/25 Wiggles won't allow collaring, creating space from the handlers and must be kept on leash when greeting a novel female dog at the gate. Wiggles sniffs the female dog at the gate, remaining present as he displays a neutral body. Wiggles maintains a still frame, remaining present as he is ignored by the female dog. Wiggles is returned to kennel, concluding the interaction.
Summary (6):: 10/22/25: Wiggles is at the front of his kennel barking incessantly, jumping on his front paws repeatedly until the handler begins to unlock the kennel door, where he begins to whine and bark at the wall where another dog is barking. Wiggles is taken out of his kennel and begins to try and kennel fight with neighboring dogs and goes to the yard for a gate greet. Wiggles before the greet is conflicted on approaching, flinching when touched and creating distance between the handlers in collaring attempts. Wiggles is left alone, completes his greet and is taken back to his kennel where he does not kennel fight, but barks a couple times.
Summary (7):: 10/21/25: (KSV) Wiggles is returned to kennel by ACS and another handler begins a KSV rewarding for calm behavior as Wiggles is barking and jumping at door. Wiggles is quick to engage with handler, offering quiet calm behavior and accepting treats. Handler practices sit and Wiggles is engaged throughout. 10/15/25: The handler entered the kennel room to observe the dogs and offer treats. The first time Wiggles’ kennel was approached he was excited and barked, showing some signs of FAS such as flattened back ears. A piece of milkbone was tossed into the kennel and ignored, but Wiggles responded to praise and baby voice with a soft wiggly body and slightly wagging tail. When another treat was offered under the kennel door, Wiggles approached with interest and gently took the treat and ate it. He then searched for the first treat and ate that one too. After this, Wiggles appeared to relax more, taking a big stretch, shaking his body once, relaxing his ears, and wagging his tail more. He eagerly followed the staff member with his head and wagged his tail softly as she walked between the kennels offering treats to other dogs. Wiggles was given the sit, down, and paw command, multiple times each over a period of about 10 minutes. He responded eagerly and followed each command, becoming more relaxed with repetition. As a reward for responding to the commands, praise was given and a milkbone/piece of milkbone was offered through the kennel gate after each performed trick. He took each treat very gently, ate them at the kennel door, then looked up again ready for another one. 10/10/25: Wiggles is reported to kennel fight all the way out of his kennel room when being walked. 10/1/25: Wiggles is at the front of his kennel with a stiff body, tense body, hard barking at the handler. When the kennel door is opened Wiggles begins to soften his body slightly, walking towards the front of the kennel and is easily leashed and walked to the office. Wiggles remains fearful in the hallway and office, remaining low bodied, exploring his surroundings and aloof to all staff in the room. Wiggles relieves himself in the room and remains aloof for the entire time in the office. After a bit, Wiggles is returned back to kennel with no issue and shakes off the leash.

Potential challenges: : Fearful/potential for defensive aggression,On-leash reactivity/barrier frustration,Strength/leash pulling,Kennel presence,Bite history (human)
Potential challenges comments:: Fearful/potential for defensive aggression/Bite history (human):There have been no attempts to hold/restrain him, or to push him off furniture. He barks/growls when startled. He is not bothered when his paws are touched, or when his collar is grabbed. He snaps if woken from sleep.Wiggles was asleep in his owner's bed. The owner grabbed his head to move it. Wiggles woke up, bit the Owner on the left cheek, released, and hide under the bed. The owner received one small puncture wound. The owner did not seek medical care.The owner stated that Wiggles has never bit, scratched, or shown any kind of aggression before this. Please see the handout on arousal. On-Leash Reactivity / Barrier Frustration: While on walks, Wiggles barks at moving objects such as cars, bikes, and scooters, as well as small animals. These behaviors suggest barrier frustration or heightened arousal in response to fast-moving stimuli. Counterconditioning and focus-building exercises may help reduce reactivity and improve leash behavior. Please see the handout On-Leash Reactivity / Barrier Frustration. Strength / Leash Pulling: In the prior home, Wiggles was noted to pull hard on the leash, making walks physically challenging. Training with appropriate walking equipment and loose-leash techniques will help improve control and comfort during walks.lease see the handout on Strength / Leash Pulling. Kennel Presence: Wiggles displays a stiff, tense body and hard barking when handlers approach his kennel. These behaviors indicate stress or discomfort with confinement and handling transitions. A low-pressure approach, enrichment, and positive reinforcement during kennel interactions may help reduce his reactivity.
