Tony came into the care center as an owner surrender due to moving. Tony is noted to have a bite history in the prior home. Tony is noted to have handling sensitivity in the prior home, resulting in bites towards family members. In the prior home Tony prefers contact on their own terms and likes to spend most of his time in Living room or his crate for up to 6 hours. He loves to run. He loves to run, cuddle (he will let you know it's ok), go on walks, play fetch with his favorite toys, he loves treats in the shape of bones, he loves toys that squeak and are easily able to bite on and run with and he previously was both wet and dry food diet his favorite brand is Purina. Though the bites have not typically caused serious injury, they happen consistently and indicate a high level of stress for Tony when he is in these situations that escalate to biting. This is a behavior that has been rehearsed over his long lifetime and will require careful environmental management and likely significant lifestyle adaptations to prevent injury to his future humans and to increase Tony quality of life. We highly recommend consultation with a veterinary behaviorist and/or highly qualified behavior modification trainer. Tony is available for rescue through one of our new home partners.
