Details on my behavior are...
Behavior Condition: 3. Yellow
KNOWN HISTORY:: Parsley was brought in with limited information on her behavior history in a home environment. Previously lived with: adult and a child Behavior toward children: unknown Scratch history: Yes, the former owner was attempting to prevent the cat from scratching their daughter but ended up being scratched instead. The scratches were reported to be minor.
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 1/6/24 FB47 Parsley was in the den and hissing, but otherwise appeared normal behavior/DOH point of view. 1/17/25 FB26 Inside her den upon approach. She hisses at the scratcher tool through the side portal door when attempting to make contact. She slowly leans forward to sniff the tool but retreats and low growls in place. 1/19/25 Vol. Visual only: Parsley was lying on her side, on top of the feral den, with airplane ears and constricted pupils. I slow talked to her while I was up on the ladder and eventually she closed her eyes and her ears went from airplane to upright.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Subdued
VOCAL:: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: : Timid,Skittish,Independent
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:: Fearful,New home adjustment period
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : New Hope Only
RECOMMENDATIONS:: No young children
Recommendations comments:: No young children under 12yrs.
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Upon approach, Parsley was inside her den. She peeked through the side portal door, hissing and showing alertness with wide eyes and ears erect and forward. When the scratcher tool was used to attempt contact for pets, she hissed, retreated, and swatted. The assessment was ended to reduce stress. Parsley is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
