KNOWN HISTORY:: Theodoros was brought in with limited information on his behavior history in a home environment.

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 8/1/26 Vol. In den facing forward and lying down when approached, door opened and spoken to. Offered dry treats on scratcher tool and left treats inside den opening. Lifted cover more. Ignored dry treats. Offered squeeze up on scratcher tool. Hunched position by now and still facing forward. Tried to pet with scratcher tool – looked at scratcher tool, tensing up and lip licking. End on interaction. 8/2/26 FB09 Theodoros was sitting in his den with dilated eyes and his tail wrapped around his legs. He showed no interest in the treats offered to him but returned slow blinks with the handler. His body tensed as the handler offered their hand out. He accepted some petting along his head before eventually squirming back slightly and licking his lips. 8/5/26 Vol. Theodoros was resting on top of den in loaf position, appearing somewhat tense. His pupils were partly dilated, and his ears were turned to the side very slightly. He did not return slow blinks. He leaned forward to sniff at crunchy treats on scratcher tool but did not eat. He tolerated petting on his head with scratcher tool, gradually leaning into chin rubs. He pushed his head up into petting by hand, which he engaged with for around 30 seconds before being startled by another person walking by. He then slunk into his den, sitting down away from the opening. 8/7/26 Vol. Theodoros was resting inside his covered den. After I removed the cover, he faced me and watched the laser pointer moving around his kennel. I placed a wet treat on a tray outside his den, and he sniffed it through the opening. I closed the kennel door and stepped away to give him time with it. When I returned, I spoke softly and he slow blinked through the den window. He had not eaten the treat yet, but when I checked back again later, he had eaten the tray outside his den. 8/12/26 Vol. Theodoro was dozing in his den, but on opening the kennel door he got up, stretched, made eye contact with neutral pupils, whiskers back, ears up. No interest in purée treat; when crunchy treats were deposited, he sneezed and snorted several times, not eating them, then distanced himself. May have problem that was noted for medical. 8/16/26 Vol. Theodoros was little better this week. When I approached, he was curled up on his den. As soon as I started to open the door, he went into the den and sat in loaf. I easily put a tray with squeeze-up in the den, and after a couple of sniffs, he ate it all. I gave him a little more, and, again, Theodoros was fine with me putting my hand in the den. He sniffed my finger when I extended it. I did not try to pet him because he still seemed a little wary.

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: During the assessment, Theodoros was found crouched inside the den and remained alert, with wide eyes throughout the interaction. He displayed frequent lip licking, a common sign of stress or anxiety in cats. Although he remained immobile and did not approach or retreat, he tolerated gentle petting along the head and body using the scratcher tool without showing defensive or aggressive behavior. Overall, Theodoros' behavior suggests he was fearful and highly cautious but willing to tolerate limited interaction, indicating a defensive, shut down response rather than active aggression. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
