Tola

Tola is on the at-risk list due to medical concerns. Tola is a friendly senior cat. We have assessed that Tola is diabetic and have started Tola on a treatment plan; she also has dental disease and an enlarged liver. Tola will need daily maintenance with her medical condition and further follow up with outside vet care. Tola has allowed all handling and seeks attention during their exams.

Xena
|
Xena is on the at-risk list due to behavior concerns. Xena has not been acclimating well to the shelter environment, and has began to kennel fight leaving kennel rooms, and when dogs are passing begins to bark and bite her bars, swiping her paws under the door to get to the other dogs, making it difficult to walk her safely. Xena does have a bite history where she bit her previous owner not breaking skin, but bruising. Medically, Xena is apparently healthy.

Hubble

Hubble is on the At Risk list for medical reasons. He has episodes in which he has difficulty breathing. They may be exacerbated by stress, heat and humidity. These are not a "reverse sneezing" events. Preliminary tests suggest a narrowed trachea, but more diagnostic tests, like a bronchoscopy study of his upper airway, need to be done. Behaviorally, Hubble has been slightly fearful while in care - but warms up with a slow approach.

Simba is at risk due to behavioral reasons. Simba's previous owner states that he will hard bark and lunge towards people and dogs while on leash. During his stay in the care center Simba has been observed to be fearful. Noted to become tense, retreat and hard stare at handlers when approached. When handlers speak in soft tone, Simba is receptive and will wag his tail. Medically, Simba is receiving treatent for CIRDC, mild to moderate osteoarthritis, and chronic otitis.

Bella Brown
|
Bella Brown is currently at risk due to behavior reasons. Bella Brown is reported by her previous owner to be highly reactive to dogs, cats and other small animals. She will lunge, bark and pull hard towards them. In one instance, she bit the owners hand as they attempted to redirect her as she was reacting. This bite did not break skin. This behavior has been observed at the care center as well. Upon intake, she was reacting towards another dog in the hall, then lunged towards a cat in a kennel. The handler pulled her away and she whipped her head around towards handlers leg. She did not make contact. The previous owners favorite things about Bella Brown is how cuddly and sweet she is. At the care center she has been very social with handlers, seeking and allowing petting. Medically, Bella Brown is healthy.

|
Jasper is on the at-risk list for medical concerns. Jasper came to the shelter after being abandoned in an apartment. He was reported to have had 2 seizures while being cared for by a neighbor. Jasper has an intermittent tremor and has had one brief seizure episode while in care He is otherwise eating and enjoys attention. He is currently on treatment for toxoplasma and has started on an anti-seizure medication. Jasper would benefit from a neurology consult to figure out next steps.

Chase is leash biting intensely, and becoming harder to refocus on walks making it it difficult to walk him safely. Medically, Chase has alopecia and dermatitis.

Trinity is on the at-risk list due to behavior concerns. Trinity in the care center has not acclimated well to the shelter environment and has displayed concerning behavior in care. Trinity is fearful of new staff and during her first days at the care center would escalate to snarling, baring teeth and hard barking at staff making it difficult to handler her. Trinity has warmed up in the care center, but has also displayed a Signiant amount of resource guarding during her behavior assessment, where she lunges at snaps at staff multiple times when approached with her toy. Medically, Trinity is underweight.

Lily Of The Valley is on the at-risk list due to behavior concerns. Lily Of The Valley is struggling to acclimate to the shelter environment despite best efforts to keep her comfortable. Lily Of The Valley has began to redirect on walks onto staff members after reacting to dogs, and has been a fearful dog in care allowing select staff to handler her, hard barking at staff that try to enter office areas or approach. Lily Of The Valley is becoming social with staff, but is struggling to acclimate to the care center. Medically, Lily of the Valley is clinically healthy.

Keanu is currently at risk due to behavior reasons. Keanu has been anxious and fearful since arriving at the care center. He has been avoidant of the leash and will become tense bodied while seeking exit when a handling assessment is attempted. His previous care takers report that he will growl when meeting new people but once comfortable will be playful. He has previously lived with a small child and a cat, both of which he was friendly with. Medically, he has pneumonia.
