Cajun Fries is on the at-risk list due to behavior. She is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. She has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. Due to her stress levels, it is in her best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. She would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give her plenty of time and space to adjust, and who have experience with helping a fearful cat adjust to strangers.

What my friends at ACC say about me: My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing. I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you. I am looking for a home with a patient person. Cajun Fries is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 4-6y Microchip noted on Intake? scanned negative History: Queen with 3 weaned kittens abandoned in carrier outside of care center. Subjective: BAR Observed Behavior - Allows brief contact and then flees. Secured in freeman net and sedated to allow for decreased FAS. Evidence of Cruelty seen -no Objective T = P =wnl R =wnl BCS 4/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: adult dentition with mild tartar and staining, mm pale PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupneic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: female intact MSI: Ambulatory x 4, heavy flea dirt with live fleas, no masses noted, unkmept hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate - no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: normal external Wood's Lamp Exam: not performed Assessment fleas suspect flea anemia Prognosis: fair Plan: intake tasks 0.25ml vitamin B12 1000mcg/ml 0.4ml praziquantel sc once OHE new home SURGERY: temporary waiver due to anemia

DOH incident. Patient is BAR, no ODC or NDC. Eating well, using litterbox. No obvious signs of neurologic abnormalities. OK for next steps after DOH hold finishes.

SO: Due for release from rabies observation BAR, tense inside of den, but interested in treats offered eent: eyes clear, no ocular or nasal dc apparent h/l: eupneic, no coughing or sneezing appreciated msi: ambulatory x4 neuro: mentation alert and appropriate, no neurological deficits appreciated at this time A: no clinical signs of rabies appreciated P: Patient has appropriate mentation at this time (no neurologic signs present) and has not exhibited any neurological signs while at MACC.

KNOWN HISTORY:: Cajun Fries was brought in as a stray; there is no known information on her behavior history in a home environment. Bite/Scratch History: Ops staff member was cleaning Cajun Fries' kennel (she was secured in her den for the duration of cleaning). When they went to open the den portal door with their hands, Cajun Fries swatted, causing two scratches that drew blood. The wounds were self-treated and medical attention was not sought.

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: Prior Assessment 6/14/26 Cajun Fries is crouched at the back of her den, eyes wide, pupils dilated, and body tense as the assessor approaches. When the kennel door is opened and the den cover is lifted, she moved towards the portal exit of the den as if to flee. The assessor gives her a moment to settle before attempting further interaction. She is softly spoken to and offered crunchy treats, but she doesn't respond to them. When petting is attempted with the scratcher tool, she is tolerant of brief petting on the head before beginning to hiss at the tool, ears going slightly back. The interaction is ended to reduce stress. 06/20/26 Vol. Cajun Fries was inside her den. On lifting the cover, she was found in loaf at the front of the den, ears, eyes, pupils and whiskers neutral. She shifted a bit and sat halfway up on her haunches and wrapped her tail around her but maintained neutral eyes. She ignored the tool with the treat extended slowly through the portal. She blinked several times, but when pet with the tool through the portal, she tilted her ears slightly, relaxing when the tool was removed, and then then began to make steady eye contact. Ended interaction to prevent any escalation, but she did not attempt to swat or make any move to flee. 6/20/26 Vol. Inside den facing forward and crouched position. Looks annoyed. Offered dry treats nearby. Looked at treats but then ignored them. Allowed being petted with scratcher tool at first, Offered lickable treat on scratcher tool. Ignored. Petted with scratcher tool again. Sat up and raised front paw and slightly looked at scratcher tool. 6/23/26 Vol. She was hiding in her privacy den when I approached kennel. Tried putting clicker into den with some Squeeze-up On it but she wasn’t interested. She did enjoy batting at the cat dancer. I lifted the den cover at one point to check on her and she backed away. She never came out of the den. 6/24/26 Vol. Cajun fries was resting inside den out of sight. She did not respond when offered treats or toys, remaining silent and out of sight. When den cover was briefly lifted, she looked out with wide dilated eyes. She was sitting upright in middle of den, with tail wrapped around her paws. 6/25/26 Vol. Fries is inside her den. On lifting the cover, she was found sitting up on her haunches in the middle of the den, pupils neutral but ears slightly tilted. She hissed quickly as crunchy treats were deposited slowly inside the den and did not approach the tool extended with the treat. No real improvement from last week. 6/26/26 Vol. In hidey box - could not see. Put in treat bowl - no movement or reaction. Approached box entry with hard treat on scratcher tool - no movement or reaction. Let rest, no reaction. Removed and ended interaction

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: 8/14/26 Cajun Fries has deteriorated since her first assessment almost a month ago. When approached in the den with the scratcher tool, she immediately struck it hard with her paw while hissing in an apparent attempt to cause injury. She appeared stressed and intense. 8/24/26 Cajun Fries is laying in her den, body tense as the den cover is lifted. When she is softly spoken to and petting is attempted with the scratcher tool, she immediately begins hissing, striking the tool hard and nipping at it. Interaction is ended to reduce stress.
