Behavior Condition: 4. Orange
KNOWN HISTORY:: Cinnamon was brought in as a stray, there is no known information on her behavior history in a home environment.
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 11/20/24 FB26 Growling from inside the den. When attempting to make contact through the side portal door with the scratcher tool she began to hiss and strike. Left alone and placed a heart shape felt sprayed w/ feliway in her kennel to help her acclimate. 11/22/24 FB26 Growls and strikes through the side portal door avoiding contact. She sat upright against the back wall with eyes wide wary with her surroundings. 11/24/24 Vol. Cinnamon was in her feral den. I offered squeeze-up on a fully extended scratcher tool, and she immediately struck at the scratcher. 1/6/24 FB47 Cinnamon was locked in the den and after opening the door I was not able to make eye contact, but he moved while he was inside the den and I left some catnip.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Subdued
VOCAL:: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: : Bold,Shy ,Timid,Skittish,Independent
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:: Fearful,New home adjustment period,Adult cat socialization
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : New Hope Only
RECOMMENDATIONS:: Adult only home
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: 11.23.2024: Cinnamon was resting inside her den, alert with wide eyes upon approach. When the scratcher tool was used to attempt petting through the side portal door, she hissed and swatted, actively avoiding contact. The assessment was ended at that point. 12.23.2024: Cinnamon was resting inside of her den with dilated pupils upon approach. She hissed as the assessor slowly placed the scratch tool with high-value treats on it. She lunged and hard-swatted the tool several times. The interaction was ended. Cinnamon is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She swats, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
