Suzie is on the at-risk list due to behavior concerns. Suzie in the care center has not been acclimating well to the shelter environment despite best efforts to keep her comfortable. Suzie has began to lunge at strangers and dogs on walks, and when in kennel will growl, lunge and hard bark at select staff, making it difficult to handler her safely at times. Medically, Suzie has dental disease.

Peach Cobbler
|
Peach Cobbler is on the at-risk list for behavior reasons. During her stay at the care center Peach has been observed to be highly fearful and has allowed limited handling by staff. When approached in kennel Peach has been observed to retreat from the front and growl towards handlers. She will maintain a tense trembling body, low head, and pinned ears while handlers interact with her. With a very slow approach, she has slowly warmed up to select handlers. She tolerates handling and gentle, brief petting. Throughout her stay Peach has become more anxious, vocalizing randomly on walks and has been observed to react to dogs while on leash vocalizing and pulling towards them. After reacting to the dog Peach will turn to the handler. One instance redirecting onto the handler and another instance jumping up at their face. Medically, she has dental disease, dermatitis, and anemia.

|
Kit is on the at-risk list due to behavior. He is not thriving in the care center and has been deteriorating behaviorally in care. He continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. Due to his stress levels, it is in his best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. He would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give him plenty of time and space to adjust, and who have experience with helping a fearful cat adjust to strangers.

Precious Lady is on the at-risk list for medical reasons. She is a sweet, mature cat that is chronically underweight. We suspect inflammatory bowel disease. She needs placement for a hypoallergenic diet trial and advanced blood tests with a local veterinarian who can manage her long term care.

Badger is on the at-risk list due to behavior concerns in care. Badger in care is fearful in care, and has hard barking, reluctant of being leashed at times and avoidant of unfamiliar staff that approached her kennel. Badger has shown some improvement in care, but still consistently displays being uncomfortable with handling with staff and chooses to avoid interaction even with familiar staff. Medically, Badger is apparently healthy.

Due to her stress levels, it is in her best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. Luna is at risk for behavior due to deterioration. Luna has begun to deteriorate after about a month in care. During socialization, she has been seen pacing the length of the yard. She has been difficult to interrupt and jumps up at handlers while in this aroused state. It is in her best interest to leave this stressful environment. Medically, she has folliculitis at muzzle. She is otherwise healthy.

Sir Beaver is on the at-risk list due to behavior concerns. Sir Beaver is not acclimating well to the care center environment despite best efforts to keep him comfortable. Sir Beaver has began to duck and shy away from staff members trying to leash him, which is a new behavior he is displaying along with high levels of kennel stress, lunging at his kennel door at passing staff and heavily panting in his kennel. Medically, Sir Beaver is apparently healthy.

Ladybird is at risk due to behavioral reasons. Ladybird has been observed to be anxious and fearful during her stay in the care center. Ladybird has been observed to be heavily panting and vocalizing during her assessment. In kennel she has been observed to be hypersalivating, pacing back and forth. and chewing on the kennel wall. She has also been observed to rush to the front of the kennel and muzzle punch the door. While out with handlers Ladybird walks with a loose leash and is receptive to treats. Medically Ladybird is apparently healthy.

Salvador Dogi is on the at-risk list due to behavior concerns. Salvador Dogi in the care center has been struggling to acclimate despite best efforts to keep him comfortable. Salvador Dogi has began to kennel fighting leaving and entering kennel rooms, and is highly dog reactive when being walked making it difficult to walk him safely. Salvador Dogi during interactions is social with staff, but becomes restless and struggling settling on his own. Medically, Salvador Dogi is apparently healthy.

Shadow Boy in the care center has been intensely fearful, avoiding interaction from staff and remaining aloof despite best efforts to keep him comfortable. Shadow Boy has began to mount several staff during interactions, and in one occasion began to growl while mounting staff members making it difficult to handle him safely at times. He recently began to become reactive to cars, bikes, and other dogs on walks. Medically, Shadow Boy is healthy.

Enola Holmes is highly anxious coming out of her kennel, has some arousal concerns on walks where she will begin to jump up and grab handlers treat pouches, jump on staff incessantly having to be persistently refocused with treats or toys to help dissuade this behavior, making it difficult to walk her safely. Enola Holmes is social with staff, but is struggling to acclimate to the care center. Medically, Enola Holmes is apparently healthy.

Peppy in the care center has been intensely fearful and not acclimating to the care center environment despite best efforts to keep her comfortable. Peppy in her crate will begin to lunge at staff members and other dogs passing, and when spooked will quickly escalate to lunging/biting during her handling assessment. Preppy in care is becoming slowly more social with staff, but is struggling to acclimate. Medically, Peppy is underweight but otherwise healthty.

|
Biggie has been placed on the at-risk list for behavior reasons. During his stay in the care center Biggie has been observed to be fearful, noted to escalate to growling and snapping at handlers. On one occurrence when a handler attempted to leash Biggie he bit and released their hand causing two puncture wounds. On a second occurrence, a familiar handler attempted to leash and Biggie snapped at the leash, almost catching handlers hand. With a slow approach, Biggie can warm up to select handers but remains people selective. Medically, Biggie has dental disease.

|
Joey is at risk due to behavior concerns. He arrived at MACC as a stray with no known history. During his assessment Joey approached the handler initially social. He jumped up on the handler while standing on their hind legs. Joey then quickly escalated to lunging towards the handler and snapping at their abdomen. The handler had to straight arm Joey to keep him away. It is also reported Joey thrashes when returning to kennel. It is reported while in shelter he bounces exuberantly towards people passing on the street while out walking. Medially he has BOAS and is deaf.

Dexter is at risk for behavior reasons. Dexter has been very toy motivated in care. He does show potential to resource guard toys. When out with staff, Dexter is easily aroused. He will jump very high and bite at the leash. Due to his size, staff have difficulty managing this behavior out on walks. He will need an experienced owner familiar with his challenges. Medically, he is underweight, has a subcutaneous mass and was treated for ear infection.

|
Fushigi is at-risk due to behavior concerns. He arrived at MACC as a stray with no known history. During his stay in the care center Fushigi has been observed to be kennel, dog, and rope reactive. Noted to jump up high and bite the leash in and out of kennel. When being returned to kennel Fushigi spins and pulls the leash into kennel. When in the kennel room Fushigi has been observed to vocalize and pull hard towards the other dogs in the kennel room, occasionally kennel fighting. He has remained social with handlers, will lean in for pets, and is very food motivated. Medically, he is apparently healthy.

Roman
|
Roman is currently at risk due to behavior reasons. Roman growled and head whipped during intake when handlers attempted to scan him and place a leash on him. Recently he has begun to leash bite at a high level in and out of kennel. Treats and toys don't always work to deter this behavior. When being petted he is tense and lip licking. Roman was friendly with the officers who brought him in, leaning into them for petting and climbing on their laps. Medically, Roman is apparently healthy.

Benny
|
Benny is at risk due to behavioral concerns. Benny was surrendered due to a bite incident after being rehomed and snapping at the resident child when eating food inside his crate. The bite is reported to have broken skin and drawn some blood. In care, Benny has been accepting of treats and engaging with his enrichment. When taken out, Benny attempts to lunge at other dogs' kennels and fixates on sounds outside the behavior office, quickly whipping around on the handler leading him, aiming at their stomach region. Medically, Benny has dental disease.
