Behavior Condition: 5. Red

Date of intake:: 12/26/2024

Means of surrender (length of time in previous home):: Stray, no prior history

Date of assessment:: 12/30/2024

Summary:: Due to Glamorous's fearfulness in care, a handling assessment will be not be conducted at this time.

Summary (6):: 01/07/25: Glamorous is standing at the front of kennel with a neutral frame as handler approaches. She is leashed with ease and pulls mildly ahead of handler on the walk to the Live Room. Glamorous is kept on slip lead due to her sensitivities/ not being collared. She is aloof to handler throughout her time in the room. Handler speaks to her and squeaks a toy to catch her attention, but she does not respond. Handler tosses treats which Glamorous will retrieve before returning to the door, exit seeking. After her session, Glamorous is returned to kennel safely. Once the kennel door is closed, Glamorous jumps up, hard barking and baring teeth at handler.

Summary (7):: 1/3/25: Glamorous is reported to growl and lunged in front of her kennel tracking handlers hands. 1/2/25: Glamorous was removed from kennel by a staff member while shadowed by a behavior staff member due to kennel presence. Glamorous stood at front of kennel and was leashed with ease. She relieved herself multiple times outside while straining to defecate. Glamorous was panting, seemingly from pulling against leash. Glamorous returned to the care center where her leash was clipped to a figure 8 without issue. She balked once back in kennel room but was guided into kennel using directional leash pressure. Glamorous immediately picked up a soft toy and brought it to front of kennel where she began baring teeth and barking as handler locked door. She stood with a front paw on the toy as handlers walked away. 12/31/24 While on a walk, Glamorous will frequently squat to both urinate and defecate. After some time, nothing will come out but she will still squat. When the handler tries to have Glamorous walk, she thrashes on the lead not wanting to commence the walk. The handler will take he back to the facility. After placing her back in kennel, she tenses up, lunges for the kennel door, hard barking and baring teeth. 12/30/2024: Glamorous is taken out by an ACS staff member and shadowed by a behavior staff member. Glamorous is hard barking initially when the handler approaches, but begins to take food through the bars without escalating. Glamorous is removed from kennel with no issue, and pulls hard outside. Glamorous pulls hard throughout the walk, is aloof the handlers and explores her surroundings. She remains the same for the entirely of the walk and when entering back into the building, has to be coaxed slightly with leash pressure down the steps. Glamorous allows to be clipped and returns to her kennel where she hugs the wall due to the other dogs in the room scaring her. 12/27/2024: Glamorous is at the front of the kennel immediately barking when the handler walks into the room. Glamorous is barking incessantly, with a full tooth display, snarling and lunging at things that come close the bars. Glamorous has her weight shifted back, dilated pupils, with freezing in-between barks/lunges at certain sudden movements. Glamorous lip licks in between snarling and begins to move backwards as the handler makes an attempt to shift his body so it is sideways to her. Glamorous begins to back away and when the handler tries to slide high value food under her kennel door, begins to lunge, hard bark and snarl at the handlers hands. Glamorous is left alone for the morning due to her high FAS.

Potential challenges: : Resource guarding,Fearful/potential for defensive aggression,Kennel presence

Potential challenges comments:: Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: Glamorous has escalated to baring teeth and snapping at staff in the care center. Glamourous should be allowed to build positive associations through treats, toys, and praise, and should have the opportunity to initiate interactions with new people. She should never be forced to greet or interact with others if she is not comfortable or actively seeking attention. Glamourous would thrive in an initially calm and quiet home environment, where she can be given time to acclimate to her new surroundings. Please refer to the handouts on the Decompression Period and Fearful and Defensive Aggression Kennel presence- Glamorous is reported to growl and lunged in front of her kennel tracking handlers hands.
