Silva
|
Silva is on the At Risk list due to behavior. He is not thriving in the care center and is deteriorating in the Adoptions room. He is now displaying signs of frustration and overstimulation. Due to his stress levels, it is in his best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. He would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give him plenty of time and space and who have experience with helping a high energy cat with a history of rough play adjust to strangers.

Rylee
|
Rylee is on the at risk list due to behavior concerns in care and noted in her previous home. Rylee in the care center has displayed hyperarousal in the care center, accompanied by leash biting during her behavior assessment. Rylee does have a bite history with another dog, and has bit and held onto another dogs ear breaking skin. Rylee is also reported to be reactive on leash towards strangers and other dogs on walks. Medically, Rylee is apparently healthy.

Stanley
|
Stanley is at risk due to behavioral reasons. Stanley has been observed to be highly kennel reactive and is noted to pull hard towards the other dogs and push off the wall in an attempt to get closer to them. After being moved to the front of the kennel room this behavior has been observed less. However despite our best efforts at making him comfortable Stanley has been observed to be stressed in kennel. Observed to be pawing at his walls and water bucket persistently, even when the the room is not busy. When given enrichment Stanley is observed to engage with it readily. Medically Stanley is apparently healthy.

Kairo
|
Kairo is at risk for behavior reasons. Kairo is highly anxious in kennel, and when removed for walks he has been escalating to jumping and snapping at staff. Once out of the building he is tolerant of pets, can pull hard on leash but is manageable on a harness and enjoys time out. He appears housebroken. Medically he has dental disease but is otherwise healthy.

Malva
|
Malva is at risk due to behavior concerns. He arrived at the care centers as a stray with little known history. He has tolerated all handling while in care and has remained aloof with handlers. However, during intake he was reported to display fearful behavior, having a tense body, low growling, and lip curling. Throughout his stay he has shown signs of deterioration and on leash reactivity. He is reported to kennel fight, and pulls hard with a tense body towards people, dogs, and pigeons. In kennel, he has been observed to stand on his hind-legs, persistently barking in a high-pitched tone, while bouncing up and down. Medically, he apparently has dental disease, otitis externa, and is underweight.

Fast Ball
|
Fast Ball is at risk due to behavioral reasons. Fastball arrived at the Care Centers as a stray. Despite efforts to keep her comfortable, she is showing significant signs of kennel deterioration. She has been observed to be increasingly restless in her kennel; spinning, jumping side to side, bouncing of the walls, and pressing her muzzle against the transfer door in her kennel. Fast Ball is noted to be painting the walls of her kennel with feces, additionally staff have observed a small cut on her face during kennel side visits. At times Fast Ball has shown poor kennel presence, growling and lip curling at staff approaching her kennel, and has been noted to jump toward the kennel latch when being unlocked. With staff, outside of kennel Fast Ball is social, treat motivated, and engages with play such as fetch; trading tennis ball for treats. Medically, Fast Ball is noted to have a wound, and dermatitis.

Vicenzo
|
Vicenzo is at risk due to behavior concerns. He arrived at the care centers as a stray with little known history. During intake he was social with staff, presenting a loose body with a rapid tail wag, and soliciting attention. He has remained social with handlers throughout his stay, but has been observed to jump up on handlers persistently, head whipping with an open mouth, and attempting to mouth handlers. In one recent instance, he jumped towards handler and mouthed their hand with hard pressure leaving red marks. He continues to be easily redirected with treats as he is food motivated. Vicenzo has also been observed to very intensely kennel fight, sometimes vocalizing loudly, a treat trial only being effective occasionally. On his walks, he is persistently pulling very hard to the point of choking himself. Medically, he is apparently healthy.

Nova
|
Nova is on the at-risk list due to behavior concerns. Nova in the care center has not been acclimating well to the shelter environment. In her kennel, Nova will rebound of her kennel door, lunge at staff who approach her kennel growling, and smear feces across her kennel due to her rebounding. Nova on walks, is highly dog reactive, fixating on dogs, and has trouble being refocused and at times is unable to settle once walking. Nova is social with staff members, but is struggling to acclimate despite the best efforts to keep her comfortable. In her previous home, Nova was reported to not get along with the other resident dog and has jumped the fence/gate after seeing another dog pass. She was reported to hard bark, lunge and growl at the other dog; she was quickly separated from the other dog before further escalation could occur. Medically, Nova is apparently healthy.

|
Ziggy is at risk due to behavior concerns in care. While he has shown a soft, social demeanor on walks and in the yard—often exploring his surroundings with a relaxed or neutral body—he has also demonstrated challenges with being leashed, frequently avoiding the lead and requiring coaxing or lassoing. While he has shown some improvement with leashing with select handlers, Ziggy has displayed mounting behavior during handling, including attempting to grip a handler's leg and intermittent leash biting. Medically, Ziggy is Apparently Healthy.

Ash is on the at-risk list for medical concerns. Ash has conjunctivitis and possibly entropion, but we are unable to treat him in shelter due to behavior. He will hiss when approached, but escalates with medical handling. He will need follow up with a veterinarian with placement, and will possibly need surgery if entropion persists.

Colby is at risk due behavioral concerns. He has exhibited significant kennel reactivity, including frequent hard barking, growling, and lunging at staff. Colby has also demonstrated resource guarding behavior, particularly in his kennel, where he has growled and lunged at handlers over items. Additionally, he was noted to kennel fight with neighboring dogs. Colby has shown social behavior but has begun to show limited engagement with enrichment or play and tends to disengage quickly. Medically, Colby has Dental Disease.

Autumn is at risk due to behavioral concerns in care. Autumn has not adjusted to the care center environment, displaying high anxiety and often has trouble settling. Autumn has shown avoidance during leashing, hard barking in the kennel, and sensitivity to handling. She displays social hyperarousal, often jumping and mouthing with pressure, and has shown resource guarding toward toys both in the prior home and in the care center, growling and becoming tense when handlers attempt to trade. Autumn has also shown social behavior towards handlers often seeking attention and engaging in enrichment games during training sessions. Medically, Autumn has Otitis Externa.

|
Teddy is on the at-risk due to behavior concerns in the care center and in his previous home. Teddy has not been acclimating well to the care center environment, despite best efforts to keep him comfortable. Throughout the day, Teddy will rebound of his kennel door, vocalize and hypersalivate leaving visible saliva marks across his kennel. Teddy in his previous home is noted to have poor bite inhibition and become mouthy during play, leaving bruising on previous owners left arm as well as breaking skin. Teddy is social with staff, but struggling to acclimate. Medically, Teddy is apparently healthy.

Romi is on the at-risk list due to behavior concerns noted in his previous homne. Romi in his previous home is noted to guard food, and will snap and has bitten over food in the past. Romi took a persons food, and as they were trying to get it back he bit the person drawing blood. Romi is noted to be a fearful dog is timid around strangers. Romi has been slowly warming up to staff in the care center. Medically, Romi is apparently healthy.

Rosie is at risk for behavior reasons. When Rosie entered the shelter, she was not feeling well with a foreign body. She was seeking comfort from staff. With some time to recover she has been highly anxious in care, she has begun to leash-bite when being removed from kennel. On walks, she pulls very hard on leash and whining to return to the building. She has a low quality of life in care with limited opportunity for enrichment due to ingestion of materials. Medically, has recovered well physically from her surgery in early July and is healthy.

Kiara is at risk due to behavioral reasons. Kiara arrived at the Care Center as an owner surrender. During her intake, Kiara was highly fearful, barking at staff, hiding and didn't allow microchip scan. Kiara began leash biting on the way to her kennel. At the beginning of her stay, she was highly fearful during her behavior assessment, although has warmed up to familiar staff. During here time at the Care Center, Kiara has become increasingly difficult for the staff to handle safely. Kiara is noted to intensely leash bite and pull her leash into kennel. Her previous owner notes that she is friendly and outgoing with other dogs, children, and visitors. Medically, Kiara is apparently healthy.

Cashton is at risk due to behavior concerns. He arrived at the care centers as a stray with little known history. He has tolerated and allowed all handling but was noted to become frantic during his intake exam, whining and vocalizing. Throughout his stay at MACC, Cashton has been observed to have a very low threshold for arousal. He has been noted to frequently jump up on handlers, sometimes escalating to snapping. During a recent incident, Cashton snapped at a handlers hand and made contact when attempting to leash him. Medically, Cashton is receiving treatment for CIRDC.

Swiss Miss
|
Swiss Miss is at risk due to behavior concerns. He arrived at the care centers as a stray with little known history. During his intake exam he was reported to be friendly but was tense bodied and hesitant for his exam. Throughout his stay he has become very social with some handlers, regularly heavily leaning in for pets, rubbing his whole body their shins, and even rolling over in kennel to show belly and soliciting pets with his paw. He is very engaged and receptive during his training sessions, and is also food motivated. Recently, Swiss Miss has been reported to be jumping up very high and has begun to leash bite intensely without being easily redirected using both treats and squeakers. On walks, he has also been reported to be reactive to dogs, usually becoming tense, staring, barking, and sometimes lunging. He can usually be redirected with treats or the verbal cue 'Watch.' Medically, he apparently has dental disease.

Princess Pudge
|
Princess Pudge is at risk due to behavioral and medical reasons. She has been observed to escalate to baring teeth, growling and snapping during intake. When a hook was used to introduce a leash to her Princess snapped at the hook. During her stay in care Princess has been observed to growl when handlers attempt to interact. Medically, Princess has a guarded prognosis due to high risk of complications in shelter due to age and conformation. Princess Pudge has brachycephalic syndrome, cherry eye, infectious conjunctivitis, unspecified dermatitis, ectropion, pyoderma, and is underweight.

Diamond is at risk due to behavior concerns. Her previous owner described her as an energetic and playful puppy. There was a bite incident that occurred in her previous home where Diamond was playing with her owner and the mouthing quickly escalated to broken skin resulting in a puncture wound. Throughout her stay at the care centers, Diamond has been observed to have a low threshold for arousal. She has been noted to jump up on handlers and head whipping with an open mouth. She will attempt to mouth handlers as well and has been reported to have handling sensitives, lunging if pushed or pulled of furniture. Diamond is also on leash reactive towards strangers and dogs, her previous owner stating she would lunge at both. Medically, she is apparently healthy.
