He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. Due to his stress levels, it is in his best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. Hot Coco is on the at-risk list due to behavior concerns. In the care center and prior home, Hot Coco displays fear-based behavior including growling and snapping at handlers, particularly around the crate, along with leash biting and reactivity toward other dogs on walks. She shows difficulty coping with stress at times and may escalate when overwhelmed. Hot Coco in the care center is highly social with staff, and exuberant during interactions Medically, Hot Coco is apparently healthy.

Tweety

Tweety is at risk due to ongoing behavior reasons. When she first arrived at the Care Center, she was growling, hissing, lunging and swatting out of the kennel at staff. These behaviors caused the neighboring cats in the room to become highly stressed. She was started on medication to help with shelter stress and her behaviors subsided. Recently, she has stopped taking her medication and her behaviors have begun to slowly escalate. Tweety continuously growls as staff are in the room and attempts to swat them when they are cleaning neighboring kennels. She was surrendered due to behavior in the home, having a multiple-bite history. It is recommended that she be placed into a stable home environment with experienced adopters who are willing to work slowly with her. Medically, she appears healthy.

Snowman

Snowman is on the at-risk list due to behavior concerns in his previous home and in the care center. In the home, Snowman lunged at a child and has growled at the children in the home when they entered his space and he also shows reactivity including lunging, hard barking, and growling toward strangers, dogs, and other animals. These behaviors appear to escalate quickly when he is exposed to these triggers. Snowman in the care center is social, friendly, and playful with staff. Medically, Snowman is apparently healthy.

In the care center, Surge displays handling concerns including mouthing during leashing and reliance on high value treats to be safely removed from the kennel. Surge is noted in the care nceter to kennel fighting when exiting his kennel room. Surge is social, engages well with handlers and loves seeking out contact and participating in training. Medically, Surge is apparently healthy.

Tater is on the at-risk list due to distance -increasing behaviors. She is an under-socialized cat who may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. Upon arriving at the Care Center, Tater tolerated minimal handling. As she remains at the Care Center, she has become less tolerant of touch. As staff approaches her kennel, she is lunging, hissing, and swatting with nails extended. When attempting to pet her with a scratcher tool, she is entirely avoidant. Given her fearful behavior, it is in her best interest to transition from the kennel environment into a stable home setting. She would do best in a low-traffic home with experienced adopters. Medically, upon intake, she had alopecia but otherwise appears healthy.

Torwen

Torwen is at risk due to behavioral reasons. He has been observed to have a low threshold for arousal noted to leash bite when being removed and returned to kennel. He has also been observed to lunge at handlers. During his re-assessment, Torwen began to jump up and lunge towards the handler persistently during the jog portion of the assessment. Torwen has remained very social with handlers, enjoys petting, and is very responsive to play. He is also receptive to treats. Medically, Torwen is apparently healthy.

|
King is at risk due to behavioral concerns. King arrived at the shelter as an owner surrender. His previous owner was no longer able to care for him; however described King as social and affectionate. During his stay in the care center, King was initially observed to be fearful, but has warmed up to handlers and is easily leashed for walks. Recently, King has been observed to show increasing reactivity to both dogs and people. He has been observed to pull extremely hard towards dogs and jump towards people during walks. When in play-yards with staff, King remains social, engages well with fetch/trade-up games, and is treat receptive. Medically, King has made significant progress with his alopecia, he does have undetermined allergies that should be explored further.

In the home, Tootsie bit the child’s lip, described as a bite-and-release that resulted in a puncture wound and drew blood. The dog disengaged quickly after the bite, after the child was described to be playing rough with her. Tootsie in the care center is a bit fearful, but tolerates handling from staff Medically, this dog is apparently healthy.

Tinker is easily overstimulated by both noises and other cats and will redirect onto handlers, making her difficult to safely interact with. She would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give her plenty of time to adjust and who have experience managing cats who are prone to overstimulation and redirection.

Tommy is able to be easily handled and engages with the environment with a loose body and is affectionate with staff but is struggling with the care center. Medically, Tommy is apparently healthy.

Gatito needs at risk placement for medical reasons. She is an adult cat with persistent bloody urine due to a mass in her bladder. She has warmed up to staff while in shelter but her urinary symptom has not resolved. She needs surgery to biopsy the mass and make an effective treatment plan.

Nuno is at risk due to behavioral reasons. Nuno has been observed to have a low threshold for arousal. Noted to jump up on the handler and mouth their clothing. Recently Nuno has been observed to jump up on handlers persistently and mount them. This behavior is difficult to redirect. Nuno is reported to be receptive to treats. Medically, Nuno is apparently healthy.

Pebbles

Pebbles is at risk due to behavioral reasons. Pebbles has been observed to be highly fearful. Noted to have a tense trembling body and begins seeking exit when handlers attempt to interact with him. During his most recent assessment, Pebbles remained at the office door and did not allow handling. While on leash Pebbles is noted to walk on a loose leash and is receptive to treats. With select staff and slow approach, Pebbles has allows contact with a soft body. Medically, Pebbles is apparently healthy.

Milky White has been placed on the At Risk list for medical and behavioral reasons. She has several health issues: hypothyroidism, advanced skin and ear issues, anemia, dental disease and CIRDC. She needs care and attention that we cannot provide. Behaviorally Milky White has been highly fearful while in care. Noted to become tense when touched and head whip. She is also noted to snap and bare teeth when handlers approach to leash her. Recently Milky has begun to warm up to handlers and will approach them with a soft body.

Murdock needs at risk placement for medical reasons. He is a sweet, blind senior cat with high blood pressure. He needs medication management by a local veterinarian indefinitely and a quiet home to enjoy his senior years.

Caramel is on the at-risk list due to behavior concerns. Carmel is seen begin leash biting during handling and is at times unable to be refocused, or having to refocused constantly. Also, she lowers her body and stopped moving when being brought to her kennel refusing to enter back into kennel, making it difficult to walk her safely. Caramel is social with staff, but struggling in the care center. Medically, Caramel is apparently healthy.

Flipflop

Flipflop is at risk due to behavioral reasons. She has been observed to be dog reactive and have a low threshold for arousal. When seeing another dog, Flipflop will fixate on them, and pull hard towards them with a tense body and rasied hackles. During her assessment Flipflop became overaroused and began jumping at the handler and then jumping up and biting the leash. With handlers Flipflop is observed to have a soft wiggly body and wagging tail. Medically, Flipflop is in heat.

Harrietta
|
|
Harrieta is at risk due to behavioral reasons. She has been observed to be highly kennel reactive and have a low threshold for arousal. While in the kennel room Harrieta is observed to cage fight with the neighboring dogs in the kennel room and the dogs in pop up crate in the hallway. It is noted that she will push off the wall. This behavior is difficult to redirect, and she has to be muscled away from the dogs. Harrieta has also been noted to jump up bite the leash, and bite the leash when handlers are attempting to leash her in kennel. With handlers, Harrieta is social and solicits contact. Medically, Harrieta has alopecia, is in heat, and has pyoderma.
