Kelpie is at risk due to behavioral reasons. Upon arrival, Kelpie was observed to be reactive towards people while on walks, but has been noted to have shown improvement, becoming more social with staff and neutral bodied when passing by people when on leash. Kelpie has been observed to lunge and vocalize towards other dogs both in the kennel room and out on the street. However, Kelpie has shown improvement in this area as well, looking at dogs then turning towards handlers seeking a reward. Recently Kelpie has been consistently biting the leash when handlers are attempting to remove her from kennel but is redirectable with high value treats. When out with staff, Kelpie is highly social, allows all contact with loose body, and is treat motivated. Medically, Kelpie is apparently healthy.

Pointer is at risk due to behavioral reasons. In the home Pointer scratched the resident child on the eyelid while jumping up on them. While in care Pointer has also been observed to jump up on handlers and at times mouth them with hard pressure. Pointer is also observed to be reluctant to walk while on leash. With staff Pointer has been highly social, allows all contact with a loose body, and is highly treat motivated. Medically, Pointer is apparently healthy.

Diamond Princess

Diamond Princess is at risk due to behavioral and medical concerns. Diamond Princess arrived at the Care Center as an owner surrender after an attempted bite incident in the home. Diamond Princess's previous owner reported that when Diamond Princess was laying down, a person was attempting to step around her and suddenly attempted to bite her. No contact was made. No other bites or attempted bites were reported. During her stay, Diamond Princess is easily handled by staff. She has been reported to be social with staff, treat receptive, and allows contact. Medically, Diamond Princess has mammary tumors that should be removed and biopsied, and she has a chronic upper respiratory issue that has not responded to antibiotic therapy. Moreover, she has chronic ear issues that have made her ear canals very narrow. This condition may difficult to treat medically and may require surgical intervention.

Vulcan is at risk due to behavioral concerns. Vulcan arrived at the Care Center as a stray. It was reported that Vulcan needed to be control poled into a crate from transport due to growling at officers when approached. During a handling assessment Vulcan was reported to be fearful during contact; becoming tense and whale eyed. She has also been reported to be fearful during walks when loud noises are heard. Vulcan has also been observed to be kennel and on-leash reactive; turning toward kennels, fixating, and pulling toward dogs she sees when on-leash. With select staff, Vulcan has been social, solicited contact, and is treat receptive. Medically, Vulcan is noted to have Dermatitis (unspecified) and Otitis Externa.

Papo Korn is at risk due to behavioral reasons. During his stay in the care center Papo has been observed to be fearful and defensive. Noted to snap at the muzzle during his medical exam. During his first handling assessment, Papo Korn was also very defensive when handlers attempted to place a collar on him. With time, Papo Korn has warmed up to handlers and showed significant improvement in handling and sociability during his most recent assessment. Papo Korn is also highly treat motivated. Medically, Papo Korn has a heart murmur, otitis externa, periodontal disease and is currently on treatment for CIRDC.

Betty Boy is at risk due to behavioral concerns in the care center environment. Betty Boy exhibits high arousal and reactivity, particularly when leaving his kennel and will begin to kennel fight/ pull towards other dogs hard barking and lunging. He is noted to leash bite when coming out of kennel. In calmer settling Betty Boy displays a loose body and socializes with handlers, leaning into contact. During training sessions, he is able to work on the 123 game and take a breath. Medically Betty Boy has some lameness in his left hind and Otitis Externa.

Hockey is at risk due to behavioral reasons. His previous owner states that he will bark and growl when startled. In his previous home he bit someone when they attempted to put a leash on him. Hockey's teeth grazed their hand, causing broken skin. While in care Hockey has been observed to be selectively dog reactive. During one instance Hockey was pushing off the wall attempting to get closer to the other dogs in the kennel room. With handlers Hockey has been observed to have a soft body while being pet, and is treat receptive. Medically, Hockey is healthy.

He has continued to test positive for giardia despite multiple treatments. His diarrhea has not been responsive to treatments available in shelter. He is becoming more stressed in kennel and continues to reinfect himself by smearing feces. Behaviorally, Honeycomb has allowed all medical handling.

Benny frequently jumps, vocalizes, fixates on other dogs and his reflection on the kennel door, and lunges toward perceived triggers, often becoming difficult to redirect. He is noted grab at handlers treat pouch, requiring multiple handlers to double-leash. In a calmer setting, he will engage with enrichment items such as a snuffle mat full of treats and a cheese lick mat. He would approach the handler with a loose and wiggly body. Medically, Benny has mild anemia, a cruciate ligament rupture, dermatitis, and some lameness in his hind limbs.

Nacho is at risk due to behavioral concerns. Nacho arrived at the Care Center as a stray. Upon intake Nacho was noted to be exuberant, but allowed handling and tolerated tasks for medical exam. Nacho has displayed a decreasing threshold for arousal and intense resource guarding at times. During his handling assessment Nacho was observed to become tense and hover over the toy when the 'assess-a-hand' attempted to remove the item in his position. Recently Nacho has also been observed to be growl, snap, and bare teeth at handlers when they approach his kennel without a specified item of value in his possession. Nacho has also been reported to leash bite at times, in one instance continued to jump at snap after letting go of the leash. When interacting with staff on walks, Nacho is treat receptive and social. Medically, Nacho is noted to have a small skin mass but it otherwise apparently healthy.

Cookie has displayed a concerning level of dog reactivity during her stay in care, including while in the kennel, on a walk, passing kennels, and during a playgroup interaction. Attempts to reduce her stress with kennel covers, but she will occasionally pull it into her kennel. Her previous owner reported similar behaviors towards other dogs. Cookie has intermittently displayed high levels of anxiety while interacting with handlers, but she is accepting of treats. Medically, Cookie is apparently healthy.

She is a sweet and social cat, however due to her potential for pet induced aggression, continues to display challenging behavior during interactions - and may struggle to connect appropriately with the public. She is extremely social, intelligent and high energy, and needs to expend energy constructively with interactive play sessions 3-4X/day. In addition to playtime, this cat would also benefit from mental exercise from activities such as puzzle toys/games, lick mats, or clicker training. Without providing activity for her mind and body, the cat may react with rough play, stalking feet, and potentially resulting in bite/scratch incidents. It is in her best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. She would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give her plenty of time and space to adjust, and who have experience with feline body language, overstimulation/ petting-induced aggression, rough play, and who have the time to invest in managing these behaviors on a consistent basis to avoid (further/potential) bite/scratch incidents.

Tennessee is at risk due to behavioral concerns. Tennessee arrived at the Care Center as an owner surrender. Tennessee's previous owner reported that when attempting to place a collar on her, Tennessee lunged and attempted to bite her, no contact was made. Upon intake Tennessee was noted to be highly fearful with a tucked tail, tense body, and avoidant of handlers. Despite efforts to make her comfortable, Tennessee has continued to remain highly fearful and is only allowing minimal handling. As handlers approach her kennel, Tennessee continues to be tense and non-receptive to treats. With select staff Tennessee has allowed petting, but in one interaction was reported to become tense, growl, and bare teeth during contact. Tennessee's previous owner reported that while she is difficult to handle, she is playful and treat receptive in a home environment. Medically, Tennessee is apparently healthy.

Bulldoser has been showing escalating on-leash reactivity. Bulldoser has consistently been observed to hard bark and lunge at dogs he sees on walks, and is difficult to redirect. Recently, Bulldoser has also been observed to become tense and lunge toward people on sidewalks. When not over threshold, Bulldoser is reported to be social with handlers, walk well on leash, and allow all contact. Medically, Bulldoser is apparently healthy.
