[Spay/Neuter Waiver - Temporary] Your newly adopted pet has been diagnosed with PECTUS EXCAVATUM, and the staff veterinarians are issuing a TEMPORARY waiver from the spay/neuter requirements of the City of NY. Follow up care at your regular veterinarian is recommended to ensure continued treatment through to the resolution of the issue. At the time of a full recovery you may choose to have your veterinarian perform the spay/neuter surgery, or make provisions to return the pet to ACC for sterilization.

No Objective: T = Not taken P = WNL R = WNL BCS: 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: First 3 adult incisors present PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupneic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: MI MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat. Sternum absent. CNS: Mentation appropriate - no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: Absent sternum, caved in rib cage (pectus excavatum) Prognosis: Good to fair Plan: Intake exam and tasks Recheck exam SURGERY: Okay for surgery Temporary waiver due to condition (pectus excavatum)

Brief cageside progress exam S: BARH - at front of kennel soliciting attention pink moist mm at distance no c/s/v/d reported great appetite O: EENT: No ocular or nasal discharge, corneas clear LUNG: Eupneic at distance MSK: Ambulatory x4 INT: Healthy haircoat at distance CNS: Appropriate mentation A/P: Added to ARL - P needs surgical consultation / correction of suspected pectus excavatum which is not possible in shelter setting. CTM on rounds, keep in ICU for monitoring purposes. Notify DVM if any tachypnea / dyspnea.
